Cool nature/art project

I had the kids at a festival this weekend, and there was a great art project table, that we're going to be doing again. They had pieces of cardboard cut to various shapes and sizes, then they had a huge ball of dough. The kids got little balls of dough and mashed it out flat on the cardboard, and then there was a plethora of seeds, pinecones, rocks, leaves, bark, acorns, seashells, etc. The kids stuck the stuff into the dough and then left it in the sun to dry. Very educational, hands on, super cheap, and fun. They had a copy of Andy Goldsworthy: A Collaboration with Nature, which was very inspiring. Some of the older kids really made some neat stuff.

We just did this yesterday I read the idea in the book "First Art". Ours is currently drying the counter..... but I agree, it was a great activity! Perfect for my almost-2-year-old.

We saw this in First Art, too. And last year I had a fall art party with four three year olds and it was a really fun project for them. And cheap, too. Free actually!

I posted about it in my blog: http://miracletome.blogspot.com/2008...culptures.html

That has the recipe for the clay too.
