Can contractions be this long?

Just wondering if any of you have had long Braxton hicks contractions. Or perhaps I still don't have an accurate idea of what a contraction is. lol. Anyway... my belly will get hard and i'll feel a lot of pressure and tension in the lower half of my belly. Lately this pressure has felt slightly crampy. And the contractions are never really short. Usually they last about 10 minutes! Is that even possible? Maybe i'm just imagining things. I thought braxton hicks contractions were supposed to be 30 seconds long...

10 minutes seems excessive to me. Are you sure they are BH? They could just be the baby in a crazy position pushing on your uterus and making you hurt, I've had that many times before and it does last way longer than a contraction.

Maybe that's it... No i'm not sure it's a BH... i'm so clueless. lol.

My BH are pretty long, but not 10min mama. I think your probably gearing up for the real thing! Keep us posted.

I've experienced the same type of contractions that lasted for several minutes. I told my OB and she said that they were uterine spasams (sp?). She said this can happen when baby moves a bunch or quickly...I don't know how much I'd rely on her info, though. Hmm.

I somtimes get them that last 3-4min, but those usualy end with pretty bad gas pains. Totaly weird.

My first thought would be digestive...lots of squished up organs down there

Yeah... i have no clue... all I know is that I will feel a lot of pressure down low for a good amount of time. And then eventually it'll relax.

Well... my body hasn't done anything special yet... i'm still pregnant with no regular contractions. *sigh*
