I told my closest friend...

I finally got up the confidence to tell my closest friend. (We dated a while back, but are just really good friends now) I was talking to her over AIM. I knew it was a subject she really never thought about before, but I started it out from a health care perspective, and expanded from there. Finally in the end I just told her flat out told her that I thought it should be made illegal, and why.

She was really receptive and she really was a blank slate on this subject, so she was totally receptive. I said that I hope she does not think I am crazy. She said told me that it was important that people have issues that they feel strongly about and wants to talk to me more about it. I really believe that after I really get into this, that she will not circumcise any children she has.

Thats a nice thought, but getting that out, letting a real friend know where I stand on this issue made me exilerated, and really happy. I love how people my age are so much more receptive to this kind of stuff, and its not this whole big dramatic thing about "parental rights".

That's cool, Perspective! Isn't it great when friends agree with us?

By the way, what does AIM stand for?

AIM = AOL Instant Messenger

Good for you Perspective! I've found it's easier to talk to fellow young people too. Well, at least the young people I know. All of us are pretty open-minded, and believe strongly in human rights, so it's not a big stretch when I take them there.

You planted a seed, and I think it'll grow.

Good for you!! That is awesome that she is receptive to the facts, and not the fiction of circumcision.
