Spectacular September in Albuquerque - Page 3

Peace I can't believe how big and chunky she is getting.

So leaving PG early was pointless, M never did fall asleep but R did so instead of chatting with friends or reading in the car I spent 45 minutes making sure M didn't put the car in drive.

Wow ASF what a winner.

Thanks asf, that would be great!

Wow. This chat moves fast for a slow lady like me! We are from the north side of Chicago. I'm hoping for a birth center birth, maybe even water birth. There aren't any in Illinois, and we went with a center in a hospital before the drugs had to become involved for spiking blood pressure. Does each center have multiple groups practicing in it (like a hospital would)? I haven't been able to find any on the Blue Cross Blue Shield search... but I know a couple of names.
Thanks for the welcomes and help!

ASF, could I have the rice? They did a rice box with Little S on Tuesday and he actually sat for 30 minutes and was moving his mouth and vocalizing a lot more. I got some rice yesterday at the store to make one for him, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Also, I wonder if I know him. Can you pm me his name?

Peace, that's hillarious. S never did fall asleep in her food, but Little S has and it was so funny. Dh and I woke him up laughing

Eman, sorry she didn't sleep.

Thanks all for coming. Like I said, I'm willing to host every Tuesday or Thursday (which day works best) just so S doesn't go insane.

What's going on with soap and is anyone else taking kids? I know doularn will have hers, but will there be others?

In Albuquerque, you can decide between a hospital birth, a free standing (not connected to any hospital) birth and a home birth. There are LOADS of home birth midwives here, two of which (I think only two) have birth centers, which really are like homes. I had my son at Connie Koshewa's birth center and LOVED it. I think she's moved (haven't seen her in a while so I'm not sure) but her old birth center was just a 3 bedroom house. One room was used for her office, one for a prenatal room and one had a bed and you could set up a tub in it for labor. There were 2 gathering rooms and a kitchen. Anyway, we had the house to ourselves and it was wonderful. Good luck making the decision.

I used Hilary, she has a birth center in her home/office space that was nice, but I choose home. I had a great experience, and really liked her. Alternative birth is really open and available here. Water birth is accepted. I had dd1 in a hosptial and had a waterbirth with her also. Oh and she took my BCBS.

I'm planning on not having kids at soap. I suppose I could bring the whole fam, but that wouldn't be any fun.

ASF - what a freakin' loser! Love the story about S, though. That's so something E would say, too.

Blue - I have a lot of home birth supplies left over if you need anything. Namely, 3 brand new shower curtains and 2 big packs of underpads. If you need them, I can get them to you. I'm still bitter about ending up in the hospital and never even laboring at home, so I kinda just packed them away and haven't looked at them since.

Connie does still have the house for the birthing center. It's kinda a long story about her moving/not moving, but in the end she kept the house. Very nice, indeed.

As far as I'm aware, Hilary is the only provider that might be in network on any insurance. She's a CNM so she's often covered in network because of it. The others are all CPMs or LMs so aren't in-network on most (if any) insurance plans, though some will count them as out of network. Mine did, though I obviously had to pay the out of network fee of 50%. I paid Connie all of it upfront, and then insurance reimbursed her for 50% after the birth (which she then passed along to me).

I'm not planning on bringing the kids to soap, either. If anyone comes, it'll be N, but I'll probably opt to leave him home too.

I also have some sample cans of Similac, both regular and soy, if anyone knows someone who can use it. I hate throwing the stuff away, but have absolutely no use for it myself.

Chatty, Chatty, chatty....:

ASF- Maybe this time he'll get some time "out of town" (as the moms in the hospital say when we ask where the FOB is). Cool rock music. C has been making up stories this week. Tonight she "read"me Mary had a little lamb. It was certainly a new twist on the old story.

Chrissy-Some home birth mw's are cover by insurance. Medicaid covers HB. When are you due? There is a new birth center opening the spring of '09 with two CNMs.

BTW, anyone like the Po' Girls? There is a benefit on Oct 4th with them for the new birth center. I was thinking moms night out. Tickets are $20ish.

Another busy day at work but at least I stayed out of the OR. But I was an ICU nurse today. Truly sick moms, lots of monitors, interventions and drips, internalmonitors, the whole shebang. I need a good old fashioned, unmedicated, spontaneous labor. I caught that baby last week, I guess that was my treat to make up for this week.

How's 1pm Sunday or does it need to be earlier. I'm open.

If you can do earlier then 1 that would be great since i have to leave by 4pm but whatev

yeah, i ant believe what a winner that guy is. He is lucky i dont give his adress to my cousins :

I don't know why this seems to be the rule, but doesn't it seem to work out that when the naps are crappy the night goes crappy? After dd's 30 min nap yesterday, she tossed and turned all night long and woke up for good at 4:30 am. We've been up and out of bed since just after 5:00. Now, not only am I exhausted, but I have a very cranky and whiny toddler as well.

asf - I am thinking I may try to stop by for a bit. Dh is off that day, but I think he will be at his brothers welding on his new bike frame. It would be nice for dd and I to have something to do. Don't worry about counting me in on the soap though. I'll just hang, chat, and watch you guys do your thing in between chasing after dd. She is constantly on the move!

emans - I know, I can't believe how big H has gotten either. She seems so big lately! Where's my baby? M has really grown lots since I saw her last too. And what a cutie she is!

elmh - Thanks for hosting yesterday! I thought little S was very sweet, the way he kept sharing his toys with H.

What's up with the smilies this morning? They take way to long to load. I finally gave up on them.
Peace, I hate when that happens. And Little S really loves other kids, esp. when they are his size.

I'm not planning on bring kids to soap, but considering I haven't even told dh about it yet, I might end up with them. If I don't end up taking them could someone come pick me up?

So now you have TWO new cars????

Anytime sunday is fine, come as early as you want. I just might be in PJs tho I have no food so if we want to eat we should plan on potluck or grilled cheese. Oh ASF bring your glass pans, I have none.

I went to an all day workshope on "executive dysfunction" otherwise known as processing disorders, ADD, ADHD, Aspergers etc. Really interesting stuff
