So, the Elementary program through Science Olympiad, from my understanding, is a complementary program for younger students who have siblings in the official program. I will definitely ask though, if students can just come to the elementary program. It's completely run by the parents in the program, so I'm planning on being quite involved in it. It's my understanding, that if you have a child involved in any of the programs, especially the elementary program (which doesn't exist without parental involvement - materials are provided, you just need to manage the kids and the lessons provided) you are expected to be involved at every meeting, every other Monday from 1-3:30, in some capacity. I know I saw at least two other families raise their hands to say they were interested in the elementary program, so I don't think I'll be single-handedly organizing the program, but I'll do whatever is necessary to get it going and keep it going.

There is also a supervised playroom for younger siblings.

The "middle school" program starts at 4th grade, though. Zach is just old enough.

I probably won't get over to Nicole's until early next week, as we've been on the go this entire week and have a big weekend planned as well.

I am thinking maybe Monday, but I'll have to give her a call and verify her plans as well.

I saw Heather and John and Lily at Mad Science yesterday! It was really fun to see Sophia be involved in something with the boys, too. It ended up to be a bit like herding cats, but we all survived....LOL

So is it going to rain today??? It looks weird outside.
It was good to see you Amy. I wish I could have talked to you more.

Big kids are at school! It's just the Ali bug and Mommy today. Kind of a strange feeling, all of this quiet. When we got to the school Nate and Gunner went right to their classrooms. I walked with Ana to her class, then Ali and I checked in on Gunner and then Nate. As we were leaving Nate's class Ali said "Okay, now we go pick up Ana!" I had to explain to her again that Ana was staying. She was sad about that, but then we got to the bus stop and I pulled out a snack and book for her, which she thought was cool. So she snacked on Goldfish while we read "How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night" and then caught the bus home.

I'm going to get some housework done, me thinks. Ali is running out of things she wants to do already and we've been home less than half an hour. She might enjoy helping to pick up. After a few minutes of being home she grabbed my hand and said, "Okay, I'm ready for my Boobie Snacks now!"

Is there a small park or something within a few minutes walk of HCA? Trying to think of something for Ana, Ali and I to do during the hour between when she finishes with her resource class and when the boys finish with theirs.
You are welcome here but we have sniffles and coughs from refusal to blow noses.

There is a park past Burton a ways but I can't remember the name. Let me go and look it up.

She says she feels fine but I think she will be tired by the afternoon. Are you going next week? I would love to try and make it then.

So it will be a new website or forum or something? Are you doing it?

You okay? Need to talk?

So Jessie I could not find the park on the website. I can't remember what its called but it would be quite a walk from HCA anyway. The new school next to me just down from Safeway has a city park next to it. It kind of sucks for bigger kids but I bet Ana and Ali would enjoy it.

Oh and I had at least 10 hits a day on my hyena from the link in my sig when I did it. Enough purchases to pay for it for sure. Just make yourself go and post in another forum several times a day. Is that bad? I always felt guilty when I did it but called it marketing in my head. It worked though.

I think we're just going to stay at the school. Ana and Ali will want to run around in the yard for a while, and then we can sit and quietly read books in the Mom Room. I hope. I might take you up on the offer to visit with you another week though, Allison.

Shayla!! Great to "see" you! I wish I had a car during the day so I could come visit.

Oh my gosh, I am so over the whole nursing toddler thing. She's almost three, does she really need to nurse a bazillion times every day? Since we've been home she's asked no less than fourteen times ~ we've barely been home an hour! This happens every day. Argh! Little boob addict.

Whats the mom room?
When I was at the school today I walked past a door with a sign on it that said Mom Room. Or something like that. I made a leap to Conclusion and figured it's probably a room for parents to hang out in. The Principal mentioned something the other day about how they have a room on site where parents can hang out to be close at hand just in case they're needed {by particularily nervous students}, before the background checks come back. I'm guessing that's the room she meant. If not, I doubt they'll mind us spending fifteen minutes or so in the little lobby/ library area reading quietly while we wait.

The signed door was on the opposite wall in between classrooms 3 and 4, IIRC. The long hallway, near the bathrooms.

I cannot get the whole Ted Tripp thing out of my head. There is a thread re he is coming to seattle on the main page. I find myself googling various topics/words to find out more. I am just appalled. So much so that I have a pit in my stomach. Ugh.

ugh is right! so the mult library has it. it's checked out. makes you wonder about the child in that family or maybe the mama checked it out so that she could "loose" it so no one could read it. or maybe she's blacking out all the pages.

I double checked ~ the door has a sign that says "Mother's Room". Tres cool. We wound up playing in the field the whol time, so didn't use the room.

Super cute story: So we were standing by the couch and chairs in the little waiting area/library, right? Waiting for Gunner and Nate. Nate came and sat down and then Gunner came over and was talking to me. Two little girls came up next to Gunner, one standing behind the other and peeking out shyly. The girl in front grinned at Gunner and said, "Hiiii Gunner. I was wondering if you would be my friend?" Gunner said, "Of course! This is my mom and my little sister, her name is Ali." The little girl grinned even wider and said, "Oh great! I'll ask Mrs Do if we can sit next to you now!" and then the two of them walked away giggling.

I was worried about him being able to make friends. Do I need to worry about girls chasing him already? He has three friends in class and all three are girls. He is just too darn cute and charming.

Nate has a friend, too ~ they're in Academy class and Super Creative Writing together. And Ana said she's been friendly with a couple of the girls in her class, "One whose name is like a season, but it's not Summer or Spring or Winter." {Autumn, I'm guessing}.
