pregnancy art

Anyone else making pregnancy art? I've been feeling pretty creative these days and drawing a lot of figure drawings of pregnant women. It has really made me feel more in tune with how beautiful pregnant women are, and conversely, how beautiful I am, even when I feel like a beached whale.

But this last project, I thought I would share. I had been looking for a meditating mama figurine to meditate with during labor. My last pregnancy I search high and low for one, but could only really find fertility goddesses, and I guess I didn't want to be surprised by a hiding baby. . Buddha sometimes looks pregnant , but I wanted something decidedly female and pregnant. Anyway, I decided to make one.

It is still drying, and I'm hoping it doesn't crack, but thought I would share. Anyone else have any cool pregnancy art to share?

I haven't done any this time so far, but here's what I did (the Birthing From Within pregnancy/birth art) with Lilly:

Sorry, I'm not a great artist!

Beautiful! All I'm planning to do is let ds paint my belly later on. I'm not sure that would classify as "art" though (at least on my part)

love the clay figurine!

yes i've been doin' some art

the studio photos in this set of images were a bit more creative than the usual mug shots i've been doing

the sepia toned image near the end is gonna be printed big and integrated into a painting i started the other nite.

and way early on i did a "Hello, Little One" painting but haven't got pix to show this or the previous one yet.

my usual art website is here

I'm assuming you mean the ultrasound overlaying the belly pic (since that's the only thing I did that wasn't a drawing)? It's really not that hard if you have photoshop. It involves layers, transparencies and a good u/s pic, that's all.

onmom, those are great pics! And it's cool having a face to associate with you!

I am not artistic at all, so I have not done anything. We had a client once that did these beautiful wall hangings of pregnant women whose bellies you could see the baby through. She did a combination of sewing and painting for them.
