Does anyone know of a holistic MD (general practioner) in the Hartford, CT area? We are looking for someone who mixes traditional and alternative medicine.

Try the Family Practice Group. They have offices in East Hampton, Portland, and Middletown, which are all within half an hour of Hartford. They train the residents for Middlesex Hospital. I've had great luck with them -- they don't push vaxes, they offer a holistic health clinic through the Portland office, and have a good balance of alternative and Western practices.

I work at Middlesex hospital. I didn't know the group was holistic but I love the doctors I work with. Very easy to talk to and they explain things well. good luck!

awhile ago someone had posted the name of a pediatrician in Avon, CT who was decent with delayed or selective vax. I can't seem to find the thread now and can't remember the name. Anyone?

MY LO goes to St. Onge and we've really liked her. She is the only Dr in teh practice and it's nice to have that continuity. We have done a delayed/selective schedule and she has been great with that- will give her own opinion if asked but not pushy at all. She does not do rotavirus at all and will not give a vaccination to a sick child. My LO is not circumcized, and I gave birth in Waterbury. MY LO inhaled blood and so was in the Nicu for a week. When he was released, we just went to see her for an initial visit. It wasn't too difficult.

The only downside is that given that she is the only Dr., I've had to wait an hour plus when I arrive for my LO's appointment. However, the positive is that once she is in talking to you for the visit, there is no sense of her being in a hurry or trying to make up time at your expense. I highly recommend her.

Where is this office located and why haven't I heard of them? I use Middlesex Family Physicians but they're pretty allopathic, though the two that I see frequently are pretty open minded. I wonder if I should check out the Family Practice Group for my kids though (right now our whole family goes to the same practice).

I also use this group in East Hampton. They are located on Rte 66. I see Dr. Hanke. She is a new resident and really a great person.

The main office is in Middletown at 90 South Main Street.
