Who's your cell carrier (Anch area) ?

I'm beginning to really dislike ACS and am ready to switch. Is Cell One/ATT the only other option?

Who do you have?

What's your experience been like?

I've had ACS since cell phones first emerged.... I've had the same problem since June, though, and they can't fix it and keep jerking me around. My phone suddenly stops texting and they have no idea why. If I go in person, it's an hour wait before they even can talk to you. Call & they turn in a "trouble ticket." Well, I turned in a trouble ticket 3 weeks ago and no contact. I did a trouble ticket in June and after 3 weeks, I went in person and waited an hour and a half, got a new phone and same problem after a few weeks.

So...just curious what's out there re: quality, options, and customer service.

I have GCI. I just have a real basic plan and don't have texting, but I switched from ACS and they have been way more reliable for not getting my calls dropped. It seems like the GCI store is not usually that busy either, of course, that's Eagle River, not Anchorage.

My DH just got an iPhone, so he has AT&T, I don't know if that's an iPhone thing or an AT&T thing, but he's had an occasional issue with getting his voice mail, it downloads to the phone though. They also put services on that he didn't want and told them not to, but again, Eagle River store. CS took care of it right away over the phone.

FWIW, my husband is an exec for ACS. He hates hearing about this kind of thing. I showed him this post and he's highly annoyed about it, though I'm not sure its something he can do anything about (if it were a network issue he'd be your man, but it sounds like its the cell phone itself?). But, I passed it on, so even if you switch, know that your complaint got somewhere.

My original issue:
their last thought was that my grandfathered in rate was making the phone buggy; ie. the computer kept thinking I wasn't text-allowed. So....they told me to pay the higher rate for a plan that I don't want. And, in the meantime I'm paying for a service which does not work.

didn't read it all because I'm rushing through trying to catch up, but we use cell one/ATT and haven't had any problems, though I think MTA has better coverage. But we've not had too many areas where our phones don't work. we're in the Valley

i have ACS lifeline and I love it. I dont have a problem with coverage.

My Dh has ATT and it seems to be okay.

I just got an iphone thru A T & T and I LOVE it!!!! The coverage has been great and I haven't had any problems!!!

DH has a blackberry type phone with ATT right now. It is an okay phone and service is good. But they only have the slow data package and wont be getting the upgraded, faster version until Nov at the earliest.

yep, the data speeds stink on my dh's iPhone right now! I heard that too about them getting the faster 3G service soon.

I liked that he got rollover minutes. I wish I had that.
