my other births were fast too.. 1st- 45 minutes push time, 2nd- 5 minutes push time.

the only slow part of this one was my placenta was refusing to come out. i looked on the paper work they gave me and it said 50 minutes to deliver placenta.... ( this was the first one that didnt come out immediately after birth)

Minta, no she is a personal Aide for a girl with CP. she means so much to the girl. and the girl means so much to her. its really warming to see how much they enjoy eachothers company, and the HUGE strides the student has made in the past two years since my mom has been with her.

Even in Montesssori preschool, which is supposed to be 'do your own thing', they STILL have 'time for this, time for that', and a good share of rules. It's just a crowd control issue. And we don't get to volunteer in class just to do things like laundry.

I don't know if I'd be happy with that kind of discipline either. At our school, they really stress the positive reinforcement. They have something called a "Cool Croc Compliment" (the school mascot is the crocodile) and the teachers give them to the kids when they see them doing something responsible, respectful or safe. Anyhow, it's a little bit cheesy but Isabella thinks they're pretty cool.

Do they have parents volunteer in the classroom? In Isabella's class last year they had a calendar and there was a parent in the classroom every day, and it was not a coop, just our local public school. I think that's pretty common here. If you want to check out the classroom, you should ask if you can come and volunteer once a week or every other week or whatever. I'm sure the teacher won't say no.

Isabella was a little disappointed in 1st grade at first, but it was because she thought it was going to be harder. She came home the first day and said mom, I didn't learn anything and we don't even have homework. What is wrong with my child? I think she'll start having homework in a couple weeks so that'll be fun for her. I'm not looking forward to having more to do though.

It wasn't that that bothered me, it was the kid sitting at the desk with his head down.

And I think that's one problem with half day kindergarten, they try to get so much in that when I was in my daughter's classroom, it did seem like they were always rushing around to do this or that, maybe that's what she's picking up on. The nature walks sound really cool though...

OMGosh. We were all so sick Monday and Tuesday. I puked all day yesterday! :Puke I thought I was going to pass out! I laid on the bathroom floor for a couple hours, barely conscious. Geez! I've never felt that sick in my life! Thinking our friend and his daughter brought the bug over. Luckily, the kids didn't get as sick as I did.

I hate throwing up! Luckily, Brian took the day off, and was able to take care of the kids. I can't imagine being like that alone with them.

Thanks. I was so glad to finally stop puking yesterday. I lost 8 lbs! Haha! I still feel really weak, but thankfully, no more vomiting. I am terrified of throwing up, so it was really traumatizing! When I went into labor both times with the kids, the one thing I was truly scared of was throwing up

Hopefully, none of you guys get it! That was a nasty bug. I thought Brian and the kids had food poisoning (he's not very good at food safety, and he was watching them all weekend), but then I started in the next morning.

hey there beloved westies!

just poking my head in to say hi and tell everyone i miss 'em.

we have had a really difficult last few weeks, a lot of hard situations and decision-making going on in my world at the moment. too painful to talk about in any public splashy kinda way, but we're hanging in there. on saturday we fly back east to be with my family for a week, which is such a relief ... we really need the break.

congrats to lily, and i hope you feel better, nicole!

I forget if I've seen this mentioned here or not.. does anyone know if its legal to have chickens in beaverton? We're buying a house (pending inspection, but most likely we're getting it!) with a nice fenced in yard and I was thinking it would be nice to get maybe 2 hens for eggs.. and well, to eat the spiders out of the yard because ewwww no one's lived in this house for like a year so the yard is veeerrry spidery from lack of use. I think chickens would be the most "natural" way to take care of the problem! hehe.

I believe chickens are a no-no in Beaverton, but Aubrey (zjande) has them, and says that as long as your neighbors don't mind, you should be fine.

We had tons o' spiders in our backyard, and a good mowing, along with keeping up with the grass kills them off really fast.

Why?? Isn't a van gonna take more gas?

Also hi all! I'm suckin' at posting this week. Next week's gonna be worse though, cause it's Wild Birthday Weekend Bonanza, and then we're headed down to CA too see fam and for Gary to be in a wedding, then we're getting back up here just in time for me to start classes. Whew! I'm getting tired just thinking about it. Or was that the child waking me up at 7:15am after having insomnia all night?

. The Beaverton city code prohibits livestock and poultry, allowing homebound pets if confined or leashed, said George Fetzer of the city's Code Services. People can keep up to four of any kind of pet, including rabbits, dogs and cats, but no goats, pigs, horses, cows or chickens.
In Hillsboro, people may not keep livestock within city limits. This does not apply to "livestock that is owned for the primary purpose of being a pet where such ownership or possession has been specifically permitted by the city or the state."

Boooo! gah, stupid beaverton :P The house that we're probably getting has apartments beside it and on one side, and an empty lot on the other side that will become townhomes. So thats a few too many neighbors There's always a chance there will be that one really nosy neighbor. And even if just some activity and some mowing in the yard will keep the spiders away.. well, there's always going to be a few webs right on the side of the house, ya know? What I wouldn't give for a couple chickens to take care of those. Maybe I could get a dr's rx that I NEED chickens for a "service animal" because my spider phobia is really *that bad*..would that be pushing my luck? lol.
