Breastfeeding class

I have my breastfeeding class tonight. I am making my DH go, so he gets an idea of what it's going to be like for me. Is this normal; do you think there will be other fathers there? I don't want him to feel like an idiot.

I took a class when I was expecting DD1, and there were all couples there. I made DH come as well. I completely agree that partners should be there, they need to know something of what you will be going through.

At my class it was all couples. It was really good that my DH was there. He remembered lots and was very supportive when I was nursing. Plus our teacher drilled it into the partners that just because we moms were nursing didn't mean they were off the hook. They were instructed to do the diaper changing, give baby to us to nurse, take baby and burp and make sure we had plenty to eat and drink while nursing.

i think its an excellent idea for partners to go along. i cant take a class on it but i have my husband read paragraphs (he just doesnt have enough interest to read whole chapters on the subject lol) and watch videos with me. that way he understands how it will be (yes, this is a full time commitment for me, no we cant "just give him a bottle" etc) and it normalizes the subject for him. Just like im desensitizing him to birthing images, Im desensitizing him towards boob being flashed for nursing.
