No contractions. None. Anyone else?

I swear I feel like I am the only one in this DDC who isn't have random contractions yet. I have not had anything remotely contraction-like, but many of you have been experiencing contractions of some sort (fake, real, what have you) for many weeks now. I'm 38 weeks tomorrow...and my SO and I DTD like every night (we call it "prostiglandinizing"), I take EPO every day, I ride my bike around and hike...shouldn't some of that produce even just a simple BH? Is there something wrong with me? :

Not much here either- just some light cramping. But that's it. I'm anxious too.

I think first-timers don't tend to have a lot of them, but I could be wrong about that.

I haven't had very many, either--at least not that I've noticed or can be sure of. Sometimes I'll wake up at night with an interesting sensation, but I don't really know for sure what they are.

You're probably totally normal.

I get crampy if we dtd but otherwise nothing...baby is way too comfortable in there...

With my first, I didn't feel many contractions. I felt a few BH that were lighter than a light period cramp. A week before I had dd I had a few contractions, then that was it until I went into labor. I think that's pretty normal, especially with firsts.

You can also have contractions and not really feel it. Well, at least I can. My last OB appt I had a contraction while the Dr. was measuring my stomach and didn't even notice it til she mentioned it.

I get a "tightening" sensation that I count as BH but that's all. Nothing that goes past slightly uncomfortable.

At 38 w 4 d I also don't yet feel anything much.

The only sensation I had the last 3 - 4 months was a painless hardening of the uterus, not even every day, just irregularly, from time to time when my (small) belly would just feel harder than usual.

The last week or so I might have felt some 3 or 4 hardly noticable, short twinges I wouldn't even call them anything close to period cramps, not painful enough, but a bit similar.

In general I feel nothing special is happening and wonder if that means it will be a few more weeks.

I have a good friend who didn't feel any contractions whatsoever until she was in labor! I half wish that was the way it was for me.

If it makes you feel any better, when I was pregnant with my first I had ZERO signs of labor until four hours before he was born. Literally. He hadn't dropped. I didn't have a single contraction. No mucus or heavy discharge. No loose stools. Nada. And then my water broke at 38 weeks, contractions started, and I had a baby in my arms less than four hours later. It was actually kind of shocking -- given I had no signs of labor and I was a first time mom, I thought I had another month of gestating ahead of me. * Jaime

Me too. Only very light and very rare (period-like) cramping. The baby's head is down but no thinning of the cervix yet - I am at 36 weeks today. My midwife doesn't think that I will be having this baby anytime soon. She did reassure me today that I may have no 'signs' (ie practice labor) and it will all still be just.fine (she knows that I, too, am the type to worry). Or that I may have practice labor but not *feel* much of anything.

So- my take home message? Trust your body. Try not to be anxious (I know I know I know this one is HORRIBLE hard for me, I can't even begin to tell you!). Every labor is different and yours will be right for you. VIBES, mama!!!

Sometime this week I remember seeing someone post here that she had a mild contraction while seeing her midwife/doctor and had it pointed out to her. Same thing happened to me today. Midwife was feeling around my tummy and told me that my uterus was contracting a bit. Didn't feel like anything really to me. So you might be experiencing very mild Baxton-Hicks that aren't really registering with your brain as contractions.

I'm with Catherine - I've just had lots of "interesting sensations"

With my first I felt zero contractions or BH while I was pregnant.

I was induced with her and felt back pain and a bit crampy like menstrual cramps but even then I didn't seem to feel real, tightening type contractions. Had epidural at 3cm then, so never really felt the contractions after that!

This time around I've had lots of BH, and I can definitely tell the difference.

Thanks everyone - I definitely feel better now. In fact, I'm feeling rather lucky and I hope I'm one of those people who feels nothing until phase 2 of labor (LOL)...

No, but i'm guessing your body is used to everything you're currently doing. If however you only DTD say once a month and you were doing it weekly now, it would probably have an effect. My ahem singular DTD doesn't seem to have any effect on my contrax at all. I've only really been doing it once a week... but still... you think it'd have an effect and it doesn't.

I had lots of BH contractions with the first, and this time I don't have that many. I'm not sure though if I'm just not having them or I'm just not noticing them since I'm pretty preoccupied with DC1. The only time I notice a BH is when I really need to pee or when I climax while DTD. And that's only because I put my hand on my belly to feel if it's tightening because I like those BHs! This baby moves a lot differently, too, so maybe that's part of it. With DD, I felt like her movements triggered BHs in many cases. All babies and all pregnancies are different!

Me too! Very glad to know I'm not the only one. I haven't had a hint of a contraction, not a BH, nothing, and I'm 38w tomorrow. Sometimes I wonder if I'm just not noticing them. C'est la vie. I suppose I should be grateful I can sleep at night and get through my day with no problems.

I'm 39 weeks with baby #3 and NOTHING other than abdominal tightening every now and then. I'm kinda bummed out. WIth #2, I was 4cm before I ever went into labor, and I did have a couple of hours here and there of contrax. This one? Nothing. I know the VE doesn't mean much, but I so don't want a repeat of my first labor!

I was like this with my first as well. I think you should count yourself luckly. I am on #3 and with each pregnancy the BH come earlier. This time I am having them alot. Recently I have them all day long randomly. They are just squeezing me enough to be irritating but not painful and definitely not the real thing. So days I feel tired from it.
