was your dc when you taught them to crochet or knit? My 3 yr old is demanding to learn! I keep trying to put her off but she's adamant that she wants to do it. Any advice?

I am teaching my dd to loom knit. its very easy to grasp for a 3 yr old. wrap the pegs pull one loop over the other.

I don't think she would grasp the needle knitting and since I cant needle knit anyways lol

I will teach her to crochet in a year or two.

ETA: if you did decide to teach her to loom. micheals and joannes carry Knifty knitters, it comes with the loom and loom tool, just grab a skein of bulky yarn, like thick n quick and she can make herself a hat.

Do finger-knitting! DD and DS love to fingerknit
It is basically just doing a series of slipknots, or crocheting a chain, only with their fingers.

Let me see if I can find you a youtube video here...

Ok, here's one, she has a cute little story with it that you may or may not want to use
It's not exactly how we learned to finger-knit, we put our index finger and thumbs through the loop, and pull up a loop from the 'working yarn'...if that makes any sense, just like crocheting a chain.

ETA: I didn't realize there were two different ways to finger knit, very interesting!

My three year old is asking the same thing! I let her sit by me with a hook, and I show her. But then she just loops the wool around and around the hook and says she's done. She's very proud of her ball of wool on the hook too!
