On my DH's old DTP info sheet it says "WARNING-Some persons should NOT take these vaccines without checking with a doctor...Anyone who has had a serious reaction to DTP shots before, such as:...unusual high-pitched crying..."
Now the sheet for DTaP that they're handing out says: "Talk with your doctor if your child:
...cried non-stop for 3 hours or more after a dose of
DTaP..." and then it says that "Some of these children should not get another dose of pertussis vaccine, but may get a vaccine without
pertussis, called DT."
So my question is, why in the 1970's did they make it a big deal to maybe not vaccinate again from this vaccine reaction but now it's seems like it's not that big of a deal to have that same reaction?
