Looking for other moms in SO MO (even better South Central or "Ozarks").


A good possibility a few of us will be moving there next month.


Bonus points if you are also homeschoolers or homesteaders!

It's open on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Honestly, I haven't been more than 5 times, because I can't remember to go! They sell beef and pork, mushrooms, all sorts of fruits veggies, homemade soaps, plants, TONS of baked goods.. cakes, pies, breads, muffins, cookies. They also do butter, jams and eggs. I'm not sure how it compares to others, but I think it's worth going to.

It's kind of in a strange location.. When they advertise it in the paper they always say something about the bridge it's located next to rather than the address. But if you take Broadway Ave past Maid Rite and take a left at the following light (Washington Avenue) it's a block or 2 up the road on your left.

I live in Marshfield--about 20 min. east of Springfield. There's a great network of AP mamas in the Springfield area. Best wishes with the moving plans.

Are you in town or outside? We're trying to decide where to buy/not buy a home. Do you have any suggestions?

Also, how is Marshfield HS? What about it's athletics? Any idea? We're considering trying to transfer our son to Central HS in Springfield because they have a better ranking and he is VERY SERIOUS. I've seen some beautiful Victorian homes around CHS, but we really want to be further out in the country.

We live maybe a mile outside of town. It is a pretty decent small town, and growing. It's nice that it is close enough to springfield that I don't feel totally isolated. I don't know anything at all about the schools. I have a 4 yo, 2 yo and another on the way. We have only been here about a year and a half. Let me know if I can help with anything else. Good luck on the moving plans.

A great resource

I live in the Ozarks and post on a website called Momslikeme.com (under the Springfield section under a different user name). I have made friends through this website, gone walking with the walking group, have met with some of the other homeschoolers, had lunch with some of the moms, gone to the birthday party for the site and think it is a PRICELESS resource for doctors, relocating, meeting people and addressing local topics. It used to be called Ozarksmoms.com and I think you can still type that in and be redirected to the new site.

What is different about this site and the momslikeme site is that here broader topics are addressed, it is more "grassroots" than the Springfield area tends to be (sorry if that is disheartening.) It took me awhile to make friends after I moved to this area; people are very private. But, I will say, the transplants tend to flock together.
