Hey mamas & mamas-to-be,
Been kind of overwhelmed/exhausted and not able to keep up with email & boards, but Noa Adeline arrived last Monday (8/25) at 8:26 P.M.
She's lovely...and was 8 lbs. 4 oz. and 19.7 inches at birth.
I remember hearing (or seeing) a quote that said something along the lines of "being a parent means forever having your heart move about outside of your body"...I'm sure I'm making a mess of the actual phrasing, but the gist is so right on -- I love her so much it hurts. It's amazing, and disorienting...both scary and wonderful.
Birth story and photos to follow in a bit, but in a nutshell -- it was long and difficult, and while not the birth I envisioned (I had Pitocin after my water had been broken for 30+ hours and my contractions were still very erratic), my amazing DH, my mom, my midwife and the nurse assigned to us coached me through it, and I was still able to avoid using drugs for pain (which was at least *part* of my plan...).
I'll update with birth story and a link to some photos within a day or two.
