hmmmmm

I don't know if anyone remembers me posting about my friend that is having a baby boy in October. I sent her a bunch of info and she said she will be cricumcising anyway, to prevent infections and stuff.

Well I was looking at her facebook page tonight and I was wondering if anyone else finds it a little screwy that under favourite books she put "As Nature Made Him: The Boy Who Was Raised a Girl". Maybe I am thinking that the book is about something that's it's not but that seems odd to me.

I think that's what gets me the most about her deciding to circ. She would NEVER EVER be ok with hurting someone. EVER! She feels so strongly about women and children's rights. I think this is a case of having absolutely no idea what circ is all about. I don't even think she read what I sent her and I don't want to put her off and send more. Ugh!

That is strange. I totally agree with you.

My cousin was worried that her baby was going to have to be hooked-up to machines if he was preterm, but she had no qualms about circumcising him. And right after he was born, the nurses were pressuring her to leave him in the nursery under the bili-lights so she could get some sleep and not worry about him crying. She was SO upset about it and kept saying that "The only developmental milestone he's working on right now is trust vs. mistrust...how can I just leave him to cry?" But she happily sent him to be circumcised without a second thought...

It makes no sense at all. I TOTALLY feel your pain!

No you're right about the book - I'd ask how that can be one of her favourite books if she's pro-circumcision. Tell her you're not trying to be a b***h but you're honestly curious how that works.
