Does your abdomen shift to one side during BH?

For the last couple weeks, it seems that whenever I have a BH (at least a few times a day), my entire abdomen shifts to the right when the uterus hardens. My belly looks like a cone when it does this! Is it just the position the baby is in? Anyone else experienced this?

I have this to a point, it seems like my one side sticks out farther than the other during a BH. I think it's the side the baby is laying. My midwife said that in real contractions, in some women, you can actually see the outline of the baby. I'd like to see that!

At this point in our pregnancy our babies are lying more so to one side or the other. My baby is lying on my right side...so when i get a strong bh my belly is lop sided to the right. Looks real funny. Very normal.

My baby's back is on the right side, so when I lay down I get this lop-sided belly that looks so funny. The midwife says it's normal and that babies just prefer one side to the other sometimes. But I still think it looks a bit strange...

definitely right hand side. very very firm there, much less so on left side. midwife seems to have zero concern about it, I was worried the left hand side was broken!

With this pregnancy, yep. It cracks me up because I can see the baby's back when I have contractions.

Oh yes! This happens to me everyday, often several times! My belly will peak to the left and I can often watch her move and the peak will disappear and reappear. It's such a trip! I think that peak is her butt. She's mooned my midwife several times too! I also enjoy watching her little feet in the upper right hand section of my belly. If I press down on her feet, she will respond by kicking me or moving away all together. I sure do wonder where on earth she goes! How can she have any more room to hide?!?!

Ah, glad to know that it's not abnormal! It is pretty cool to watch though. Montse, I press down on my little one's feet too if I can feel them sticking out the side. I too wonder where she moves them to when she kicks away!

Yes! I woke up the other morning and I felt my right side in shock...like there was nothing there, it was almost flat! Then I looked at the left side: it was like I was pregnant only on one side and it was a huge huge bulge. This happens mostly on the left side but not so big as that morning...it was so strange to see an almost flat right side!

mine does that but i think it's just the way the baby is lying. my dh finds it amusing.
