I hope I can be my mom

(or at least, I hope she isn't lying to me! )

Little Miss likes to play headbangers ball against my cervix, and it hurts dangit! So I was asking my mom about her sensations before and during labor, and she said to me, "Honestly Kati, it didn't really hurt until I had to start pushing you out."

Needless to say - she's my birth inspiration!

I love hearing about my own birth! I hope you can draw inspiration from her...it is a wonderful connection to have

My mom told me that contractions hurt little more than a regular period contraction. I'm still convinced she was just saying that to get grandkids!

My mom said they hurt but that the pushing was fine and not painful at all! She said that the baby's head made her perenium numb and so she couldn't feel any tearing... and that pushing actually made the pain go away. :

Her labors were mostly on pitocin tho.... so they were faster and stronger. But she still did just fine without any pain meds at all. (back then they wouldn't give you an epi until you were about to push... so she said it was pointless)

My birth with DD was really pretty easy, the contractions hurt but not much worse than my really bad menstral contractions and pushing definitely brought a lot of relief. I have been praying this birth will be similar in that aspect at least. Honestly I think any woman who has had really bad periods will probably be more familiar with the pain of contractions and better able to handle them. Totally just my experience, but I was really surprised that natural birth didn't hurt more. : *Knock on wood*

both of my labors were pretty similar in length and intensity to my moms...she went unmedicated as did I...anecdotally I think that we do labor similarly to our mothers...I only wish that she had had #3 so that I could predict what this labor will be like-lol. I also found labor to be intense, to be certain, but not necessarily painful...

I hope I'm like my mom too! All her labors were under 2 hours. I was the first and it was about 30-40 minutes. She only tore with the fourth one, but not really bad.

Ooo Ooo! That's me! I had horrible period cramps when I was 17. They were so bad that every time I had my period i'd become literally paralyzed with pain. I could not move... all my muscles in my body tightened up. It was horrible. The pain was so intense that i'd throw up... it was almost like someone kicking me in the stomach! My mom actually came in a few times and helped me breathe through the cramps. We of course decided that the doctor was the way to go.... and the doc put me on birth control pills. Never had a problem after that.

Yeah, no, labor pain so does not scare me in the least. I can't imagine it being as painful as the pain I experienced when I was 17. I've also had really bad sciatica... so... yeah... i'm just not afraid of pain.

I had heard this from several people and really hope it's true. I have endometriosis and periods are just the most awful things ever. I've been feeling crampy on and off for the past week or so and it is so weird. I kind of feel like I do before I get my period or maybe 2-3 days in (first day is always really intense). I guess I say it is so weird because I haven't felt these pains since last November. It's nothing I can't handle yet though.

My mom says her labor was like period cramps too. My pit birth with DD was like that at first but not after there was no water and they turned the pit crazy high!
