Need advice on midwife/ob in Panama city, FL

I am 13 weeks and just moved to Panama City, FL. I am planning on having a natural birth the bradley way in a hospital. Can someone recommend a hospital (bay or gulf coast) as well as a cnm/ob? I am concerned that the hospitals/cnm's/ob's will not support my wishes and I will end up with an inducement/c-section.

Please help!

Your best bet is Susan Sizemore CNM at Emerald Coast OB/GYN. She also works with a very good doula (Kathy) and can get you her number. I have to run, but search "panama city" for some recent threads on the issue.

Bay is quieter since fewer practices deliver there. Gulf is busier because it has the NICU and more OR's (and thus more practices delivering there).

If you want a natural birth, I highly recommend CNM's Sizemore and Mott at Emerald Coast OB (they only go to Gulf). You can request a note from them that will guarantee a midwife at your birth and not put you with the ob on rotation when you go into the hospital.

There are also some midwives that do/are starting to do homebirth in the area. I'm doing a local resource list on my website soon (my homepage) but that info was found from the lovely ladies on this board so you've likely already found it as well.

panama city
