Just found out that ds was exposed to pertussis this past weekend!!! He is not vaxed...what can I do!!! My friend that called and told me she has pertussis knew that he was not vaxed and said that I should go get him the vax...doesn't sound right to me. She is a vaxing mama...I saw a kids tincture for pertussis coincidently at the store the other day....probably going to pick that up. Any other advice is greatly appreciated.

Order some sodium ascorbate, it's a form of vitamin C that's really easy on the stomach. It's supposed to really help with moderating the symptoms if it's given to bowel tolerance. Have you looked in the archives section? There's a sub-section for Pertussis.

I get it from Bronson, item 50A or 50B.

I would start introducing sodium ascorbate, and up probiotics (if you use them).

I was just at my Anthroposophic physician's office with my DS last week. He is a no vax FP. I had a discussion with him about pertussis particularly since my son has asthma.
In his experience, the families that got pertussis and were relaxed and welcoming about it had less severity and recovered more quickly. Those that were freaked out and nervous had rougher symptoms and had a more difficult time recovering.
So.....from his advice to you, don't be nervous about it. You will not want to make your DS uptight and scared about getting it. If the disease was meant to come to your family then welcome it and treat accordingly. There might be some homeopathic remedies that you could look into which can help with symptoms.
Since you are still nursing your antibodies I'm sure will also help with immune system.
Sodium ascorbate sounds good along with plenty of fluids.
There is an Anthroposophic doctor in Chapel Hill that you could also call for treatment recommendations. It might make you feel better to talk to a professional to ease your worry.

I wouldn't worry about it too much either. Virtually no one over the age of 6 months dies from it nowadays. It's a fairly common illness.

And if your ds catches it, he'll be immunized for the rest of his life, no point in vaccinating him against it at this point.
