Breastfeeding/Diaper-changing at the Fryeburg Fair?

My DH and I would like to go to the Fryeburg Fair again this year, and also bring our four-month old with us (I'll be wearing him in a wrap). I'm wondering though...are there any good places to breastfeed or change his diaper? I'm thinking the restrooms must have a changing table, but where can I nurse him? We always have to park so far away that there's no way I'm walking back to the car every time!

*He doesn't like to nurse while in the wrap yet, otherwise I would nurse him that way.

Though I have no personal experience yet, I thought I'd chime in just in case you don't get a lot of responses. I do not remember ever seeing a designated nursing area, but I have seen many moms nursing at the benches and picnic tables near the petting zoo, little red schoolhouse, and kids music theatre area. Good luck. I hope you have fun. We always venture out for at least one full day of the fair....mostly for the food : I know, terrible, but oh so yummy once a year.

I have never been to the Fryeburg Fair so can't speak to it personally, but on another level-- if you are comfortable breastfeeding in public, you should go for it anywhere you need to. if that means sitting on the grass near the animals where the families tend to gravitate, or if it means finding a secluded spot under a tree in a shade- the more people see moms nursing in public, the better off our culture will be. you know? just my two cents. legally, you can breast feed anywhere you are allowed to be. have fun and good luck!

I'm just popping in here, it's not my tribe, but I just went to the Minnesota State Fair last week and they had a tent especially for nursing moms as well as a meditation room that rarely had anyone in it. Both would have been great for a mom not comfortable with nursing outside. Ask for info when you get to the fair - I bet there is somewhere private if you need. As for diaper change, I just laid my daughter on clean grass. If she had been younger, I probably would have used a receiving blanket. There were no changing tables in the restrooms I visited - hopefully your fair will be better!

I've never been to Fryeburg but I have been to other fairs in Maine and I would generally just nurse dd anyplace that was comfy. Generally a grassy spot or else in a food eating area and I never had any issues and considering I am Black woman in Maine and there aren't too many of us no one evver have me crap about nursing at fairs. Considering Common Ground is pretty crunch leaning, I really cannot see anybody giving you a hard time.

As for diaper changing, can you get a disposable pad to put in your bag? That's what I have always done when needing to change the little one in a space with no changing tables.

Happy Fair going, my car is acting wonky so despite wanting to this year, I doubt we will make it.

We've been to Fryeburg, and yes they do have nursing areas. They're basically tented off areas with a rocking chair and a changing table. This was a few years ago, but I don't see why they would take them away in a few years. We went last year and I just nursed ds on a bench, but the nursing areas are marked out on the fair map as well.

We love Fryeburg! I'm so bummed that we won't be going this year because I'll be so close to my due date that my dh doesn't want to be that far from our midwife. (4th kiddo, could go pretty fast) If you go, try the maple syrup whoopie pies at the sugar house - to DIE for!!! :
