September - What are we eating?

I saw that someone started a healthy eating thread, but it was in August, so I thought I'd start one for September! I know that I need to keep myself accountable. I just found out that I'm pg today, and did a little *cough* emotional eating, so I need to keep track of what I'm eating. Anyone want to join me?

breakfast: two eggs and a piece of homemade bread (toast)

lunch: leftover pesto pasta, greek salad (spinach, tomatoes, feta, artichoke hearts, and dressing), bread

snack: Little Debbie (yep that was the emotional eating - still adjusting to the idea of being very unexpectedly expecting!)

I had been having eggs every day for breakfast, but the past couple days I've been sleeping in more than usual, so I haven't been up before dh to make breakfast... I did have cereal with milk today, with a banana on top, and orange juice, and later I had a bagel with salmon and cream cheese. Otherwise, I've mostly just been making sure I get enough water and taking my vitamin. If I start feeling the nausea more, I think I'll just switch to gatorade for the next few days.

(Once we're back from our trip this weekend, I think I'll ask dh to boil me some eggs in the mornings before he heads off if I'm too sleepy to get up... I really should get more protein.)

I have been trying really hard to eat right, my previous pregnancies I used as excuses to not limit portions and pretty much eat anything. That lead to some major weight gain issues lol...I finally got that extra weight off so I really don't want it back...Today this is what I ate:

Breakfast - around 9am - Frosted Mini Wheats, skim milk, 1/4 of a large banana

Snack - half of an orange, a small chunk of mozarella

Lunch - this was eaten more like snacks over about an hour period- Celery with PB, toast with strawberry fruit spread, carrots and dip

Dinner - DH 'cooks' on Fridays so it will be Boca burgers with veggies and hummus or potatoes on the grill, possibly both sides (he is very predictable lol)

Snack - tonight I intend on having some dark chocolate as a treat, I would be eating it now but DH needs to pick it up because he forgot yesterday :

Ugh eating sucks! I have big issues with food so I have to constantly remind myself that I need to eat. I'm still nursing my 2 yr old so extra calories and water are essential!

So far today I've had:
Toast with butter and a fresh pear

Oatmeal and yogurt

Turkey and cheese sandwich with some more yogurt (I love yogurt!)

I dont know what we're having for supper yet, Dh isnt home yet and we have to go grocery shopping too so it'll be something quick and easy.

Yay, I like this. I'm not going to start until tomorrow, though. I was bad today, and me and hubby are going out for Italian tonight

I find myself constantly wanting snacks, or small meals. So far today I've had:
cereal with milk
cheese and kalamata spread sandwich [half]
palak paneer
baked plaintain
a vegan jerkey strip
a kashi granola bar
3 oz of tuna on a piece of toast with mayo, relish, & mustard

And we've ordered Chinese food which is taking painfully long to arrive. :

I'm eating too much, and not getting enough movement in. But I'm always hungry!

What kind of easy snacks do you all find helpful?

Lately I've been eating eggs with chicken sausage or ham for breakfast but not for a few hours after I get up. I can't eat first thing as of late. I just munch on crackers for a while. The eggs lately have been making me queasy so I need to figure something else out. I struggle with breakfast always have.
I think I'm going to have smoothies for breakfast I read this blog and just today she posted a ton on smoothie recipes that are all super nutritious and easy check it out www.tiny-morsels.blogspot.com I love it!!

Anyway I also had a smoothie, dinner was a burrito, lunch was 3/4 of a turkey sandwich with avos, let, tom, onions. I also munched on sesame sticks, and 1/2 of an odwalla protein bar, and watermelon

My smoothie today, consisted of greek yogurt, oj, kale, bluberries, mangos, and flax oil.

I think that was it??

My last two pregnancies came with major food aversions (although my second was the worst) during the first trimester which made me miserable. I had the I'm hungry but I don't want to eat anything problem. Crying in kitchen cause I'm sooo hungry I have stomach pains but I just can get myself to eat anything, is not fun. Ended up eating A LOT of bagels the only thing that appealed to me.

Anyway I hope to try and fend off the aversions before they start by having lots of easy to grab snacks around, and being aware of the aversion problem. Hopefully it won't be so bad this time. Well then this turned into a long post

dinner was sesame noodles. I went from emotional eating to being too freaked out to eat.

You guys are making me so so so hungry for the food I used to eat at home. even simple sandwiches and breakfast foods. I moved to China about a year ago and now I co-run a hostel. I eat with all my employees and some guests for every meal and it's Chinese home-style food. Delicious, but man oh man do I miss the food I ate back in Virginia all of a sudden. And it's not like I can just run around the corner and buy stuff and then cook a western meal. It way expensive and I'm responsible for everyone else's food too!

Breakfast for me is usually cottage cheese with fruit and oatmeal. Lunch usually consists of some kind of home-made pizza or soup. I also love chili for lunch. Dinner tonight is t-bones on the grill, home-made mashed potatoes, and steamed green squash.
