Everyone I know whose delivered there has been very happy, except for a friend of mine who delivered in late June--this is apparently the busiest time of year for babies!

CMC's birth center was so overcrowded that she had to birth in the ER, and then was given only 24 hours in a room, at which point she was discharged to a storage closet until her husband could get there to pick her up!

I think this is a highly unusual story, not something that commonly happens, but I had to share...

Hi there-
I didn't have either of my babies at CMC, however I am a birth doula and have heard amazing things from mamas and fellow doulas. Good luck and feel great

You should consider a home birth or birth center birth with Adrian from the Birth Cottage-and Jaime as your doula : especially if you want a water birth! You can water birth at home or at the cottage(in Milford).

And if you don't have room for a birth at home, I can adopt you here. I have a hot tub perfect for birth(just ask Jaime ) (although it might be a bit chilly outside in Feb..lol) and I live right here in Manchester!

Thanks, Kara
And I agree with the suggestion re: waterbirth. Most of the local hospitals are no longer offering waterbirth as an option; CMC has discontinued it and rumor has it that Elliott is as well. Adrian/The Birth Cottage are both AMAZING!

I had an awesome waterbirth with Jeanne Browne at Concord Birth and Wellness Center, so that's another option as well. She's wonderful!! :

yeh, that. my ds was born at the Birth Cottage 2.5 years ago. It was a great experience (on the way to a homebirth this time!)>

Don't know exactly what are you are in, but there's also Mary Lawlor who owns Monadnock Birth Center in Keene, NH. I had 2 homebirths with her, but if you prefer a setting rather than home, her birth center would be a great middle ground. She's awesome too!

If you have to have your baby in a hospital, then CMC is probably the best choice around here...as long as you don't have any "complications". By "complications", I don't mean "baby or mother in danger" complications. I mean that same old thing you find everywhere. Also, I had my first baby there 5 years ago and they did not allow waterbirths. I didn't have a great experience there, sparing you the details. You should definitely look into "The Birth Cottage" in Milford. I had a home water birth with Adrian 3 yrs ago that was incredible. Now, baby #3 is going to be a home water birth with Adrian as well. All my check ups are at the Birth Cottage. Adrian and Tracy are both wonderful breastfeeding coaches and can/will help you through your bf difficulties. If you are not comfortable with a home birth, tour the birth cottage. If you are really looking to have the birth you want with immediate one-on-one breastfeeding help, look outside of the hospital.
