When I was pg with DS, I had blood work done that indicated that my titres for Rubella were low enough that I would be susceptible to it if exposed. I know the likelihood of exposure is low, but I would like to be safe if exposed. Does anyone here have any wisdom about whether or not I should get a booster before TTC #2? How long before TTC should I get it? Any risks that I'm not considering?

there is one doctor doing research about the safety of the rubella booster/MMR on the children of mom's who BF. he's found that if the mom gets the rubella booster and breastfeeds, her child is more likely to have a serious reaction to the MMR. this does not happen when moms formula feed. the researcher thinks it has something to do with the rubella antibodies getting into the breastmilk in an unnatural way and sensitizing the child. he's found that many women never develop immunity to rubella w/ the vax even if they have been vaxed every year for several years.
even before the MMR, there were very few cases of congenital rubella syndrome compared to the entire population. you can look that up on the CDC.

I would have declinded my Rubella shot but I was drugged at the time (c-section, couldn't find anyone to do v-bac) and they just gave it to me. I'm so furious to this day!
