help me sew this christmas gift

Thread Starter
I want to make homemade "green" gifts for Christmas this year so I thought how about making reusable shopping bags..should be easy enough. However I dont sew. Does anyone have any ideas on how I would do this. Kindof like a virtual pattern for me to follow. How do I put a bottom on it? Measurements?
Thanks...
Looking forward to feeling like martha

It depends on the type of bag you want to sew. There are literally dozens of different types... are you looking for something shaped like a plastic grocery sack, or something more along the lines of a paper grocery bag? Do you want handles to carry in your hand, or long enough to go over your shoulder? What type of fabric are you looking to use? With a little more information, I'm sure there are any number of tutorials we could point you towards.

Use a recycled tank top and iron-on fuseable (sp?) tape. You can get the tape at craft stores. My sister did this for a friend's birthday. She found a Harley-Davidson tank at a thrift store and filled it with the other parts of the present. HTH.
