ISO playmate

I have a 3 year old son (4 in December) who needs a playmate. My son is a bit on the cautious side and takes time to warm up. Once he warms up though he prefers action play. I'm looking for someone who is not aggressive or too bossy. These are fine traits but don't match up with what my son needs. He also can't be too reserved because then they'll never talk to each other.

I live in western AA county near Ft. Meade. My son prefers to play with boys. Do you have a little boy that would like to play with mine?

I might know someone who would be perfect! They live near Ft. Meade too and her son will be 4 in November. His mom was just telling me how they never see anyone at the park and when they finally do her son is very excited.

I'll ask her if she is interested and get back to you soon!

I'm not so near you anymore but the MOMS club in your area is/was very active. They have playgroups, outings, etc. Also NAP organizes outings and park playdates. Might give your son some options for playmates.

(Piney Orchard has their own chapter, but the website looks down -- Odenton is the one I was familiar with, they had *awesome* field trips.)

I went to the Piney Orchard MOMs playgroup twice. Both times we ended up sick a few days later. It is held in a small room with lots of kids. My son is pretty sensitive and he hated the big crowd and loud noise. He's more of a one on one kid. He's getting better about groups but I don't think he would be able to find a friend in that kind of situation. It wouldn't hurt to give it a try again though.

I know what you mean, we were overwhelmed at the all-ages playgroup scrums as well. For us, the 'field trips' were a great way to get out of the house, meet new people, see new things (we were new to the area), and the park playdates offer a lot more space (and usually a lot fewer people) so easier for ds to handle (and me, too). NAP has outings and playdates as well, and no fee to join iirc. Oh, and the library has regular storytimes for the 2-5 age range, West County near you is big and pretty new: http://www.aacpl.net/branch_info/wco.htm
