Maybe this is outside the scope of this board, but the recent inundation from Hannah left us with a leak in our roof. There are twenty or so roofing contractors in the phone book we have no idea how to choose one (don't really have anywhere to ask for recommendations other than here) and don't know if there are any home environmental concerns or so forth to worry about when choosing one. If it matters we have an older seamed corrugated metal roof over older wooden shingles, our house is about 100 years old.
So 1) Is there anything toxic we need to worry about when choosing someone to fix the leak.
2) Has anyone used a roofing contractor in the Amherst/Greenfield area and been happy with them?
I'm not feeling real happy about the fact that we own our house at the moment. Overwhelmed doesn't even begin to cover it.
