Organic Mattress Showroom in NoVa?

I want to buy a new mattress in the next 6 months and am looking into natural latex, but I want to be able to see them and lay on them before buying. Does anyone know if there is a store in the area (within an hours drive of Reston/Herndon) that has any in its showroom?

I am interested in finding a local showroom also but no matter what I search for on Google I cannot come up with anything. You'd think this close to DC there would be something! I am in Reston also

How funny, I was just searching this yesterday. DH and I want a king size bed now considering how many times Oliver ends up sleeping with us these days, but I haven't found anything either! I'm in Alexandria

Yes! We're thinking about buying a king size latex bed, so just went looking this weekend. There's a store in DC's Logan Circle area called Eco-Green Living:

http://www.eco-greenliving.com/

They have a couple of different latex/wool mattresses to try out - not a huge selection, but enough to see what you think of latex. When we went they had Savvy Rest and Vivetique out to try. We also found out the Savvy Rest headquarters and showroom is in Charlottesville, so we're actually planning to go down sometime next month to look at a wider selection and see if we can get a discount by going directly to the source.

Yay, thank you! What did you think of the mattresses? Were they comfy?

Atlantic Futon in Charlottesville also has some. We love our latex mattress! :

Are latex mattresses hot?

I thought they were comfortable, but we're planning to go back now that we're getting more serious about buying one. I think it's very cool that the three layers can be changed around too! Very useful since we like a softer mattress but want something a bit firmer while co-sleeping.

I'm not sure about them being hot, but I don't think so. I'm sure whichever manufacturer you choose could answer your question more specifically (or just email Savvy Rest, they answered a ton of questions for me yesterday very knowledgably).

Great

This is great. I knew about a store in Charolettesville but not in D.C. this looks great. Great website. A mattress is our next purchase we have greened up the rest of the bedding. We love our organic wool comforter and mattress cover.

If anyone is looking for pillows we bought one kapok filled and a shredded rubber filled and they are amazing. We had good luck through www.purerest.com

Wow, thanks! I didn't know about that store. I just mapped it and it's only 3 miles from my office!!! I'll have to check it out sometime soon!

Holy cow, how did I miss all these responses???

Nifty! We will need to get ourselves to DC!

Just FYI, we ended up ordering our Savvy Rest mattress through http://www.thecleanbedroom.com/ - they offered 2 free pillows, free shipping, no tax b/c it's out of state, and I found a 10% off coupon online (cat10). That was definitely the best deal I could find, it saved us close to $1000!
