VBACers Here?

Wondering if we have any VBACers in this group?

DS1 was a C/S after complications with an induction. DS1 was posterior and I was trying to push at only 4 bc the pit was making me get sick so I was bearing down and since they AROM to try to help labor I was pushing all the water out and they had to go in and fill me back up. His birth was/is very tramatic for me.

DS2 was a C/S bc the OB "could not" let me labor any longer since I was not progressing. DS2 was posterior and I was strapped to a bed bc they had to monitor constantly. 44.5 hrs of labor His birth was a bit tramatic for me bc of the way they went about with everyone coming in for the C/S and it flipped a switch which took me back to DS1's birth.

Found a MW who happens to be part of MDC who is willing to take me. I would really like a HB but DH was against it with DS2 and wanted an OB bc that is what he felt safest so I respected his wish then. This time he will need to respect mine. I can handle not having a birth at home.

Time to start preparing for all the craziness of trying to VBA2Cs since I know I will get questions and looks.

Smiles,
Lisa Marie

Me me me!!! DD was a C/S due to a unfavorable induction that obviously ended in FTP. I would really love to do a home waterbirth but not sure if it will be a possibility w/ insurance. Gotta love those HMOs! Again .

We really won't have the $$ to pay out of pocket because 1) this pregnancy is a total suprise 2) we are moving into a new house in January and 3) I was denied for short term disability insurance at work last year so we will need to plan for my maternity leave being completely unpaid time off of work.

If I'm not able to have a homebirth, there is one very VBAC friendly OB in this area that works w/ a midwife in her practice. The OB used to be a doula and has had 2 of her own children at home. She is very natural birth friendly. Although, her office & the hospital she delivers at is about 50 minutes away from my house which is kind of intimidating. I'm not going to worry too much yet since everything is so far away. However, I am planning on doing whatever I can possibly do to avoid another c/s!

Sounds like a promising OB PaytonPlace!

I have very little choice but to have a homebirth (not that I'm complaining!)
My first c/s happened after 30+ hrs of labor and my son was very badly positioned and wraped in his cord. Long story short I feel that there were some things that could have prevented it but I was not supported properly.

I am confident that I can have a HBAC and the midwives I will be seeing have a great HBAC track record. My alternative is to drive 2 hours away to one of the 3 hospitals in Maine who will allow VBAC's. I am not willing to do that when I can stay in the comforts of my own home.

I will be trying for a VBAC too!

DS was a C/S. I went into labout on my own at 41 weeks, 3 days and progressed well, but they kept losing his fetal heart tones. I had to keep flipping into all kinds of awkward positions to maintain his hearbeat and it lead to postierior OT presentation on his part. I pushed for 4 hours and he never descended and I was unable to switch positions for fear of stressing him more, so I ended up with a C/S.

I will be using the same team of midwives with the new baby as I did with DS. I loved them and am confident that I will be able to have a VBAC this time around. I am seeing a chiropractor regularly and am hoping it will help with positioning and going into labour closer to my due date. We will however be having another hospital birth.

VBAC here too, will be planning a home birth.

We planned a home birth with our first and discovered he was a single footling breech on my due date. We tried everything to get him to turn, short of an external version. My doctor did not feel comfortable doing a home birth with a first timer in these circumstances. We scrambled to find a good OB and a hospital in line with our birth plan. We were very fortunate to have a fantastic birth and hospital experience.

I expect I'll be going back to the same doctor for the home birth, although I want to check out the midwives here (although I'm uncertain they'll travel the hour out to me).

I never had a contraction with my first pregnancy. I'm SO looking forward to experiencing that. (I know, I say that NOW, lol).

So Rebecca, you actually had a DOCTOR who did homebirths? Thats pretty unusual!! Hope that you have a head down baby this time around!!

My DD was a c-section, and I'm hoping for a VBAC with this one. Have my first Dr. appt next month, so we'll see how it goes :-) My OB with DD was pro-VBAC, but she moved away so had to pick a new doctor. Got my fingers crossed! My plan is to go with a VBAC if I go into labor before/on my due date. If I go late, I think I'll just go with a repeat c-section though.

I hope for a VBAC. I haven't decided where or with whose help though. My options in this area are limited.

DS was a transfer from a birthing center. I pushed for 4 hours before the transfer, but apparently his head was tilted, and it caused my cervix to swell so by the time I got to the hospital the OB there said I was "only" 9.5. Except I had been 10, so yeah, whatever. they gave me an epidural, and let me get some rest hoping things would calm down, but 6-8 hours later, my cervix still hadn't reopened, and contractions had slowed down. So yeah.

I am planning a homebirth VBAC. DD#1 was a c-section and DD#2 was a VBAC in a hospital that was successful, but they don't do VBACs there anymore so I will be having a homebirth!! Wishing all you Mama's good luck with there VBACs, I would say do your homework. It sounds like alot of you had posterior babies and so did I with both my girls. However with my VBAC I learned that they are pretty easy to turn on your own. If I had known that with my first I don't think there would have been a c-section in the first place!

hi everyone! i joined this ddc yesterday :-)...planning my second hbac. 1st baby was born via c-section because of cpd. i pushed forever!!! 2nd baby was born at home with a midwife. i pushed forever, again. much different outcome though! so worth it. what a wonderful experience! i pray for another safe and joyous homebirth.

to all the vbac women...stay positive and find a great care provider who believes in a woman's natural ability to birth.

I will be trying for an HBAC

no no no...I WILL be having an HBAC!

Me too! DS was a stubborn little breech baby at 40 weeks and no one would consider letting me labor. So, here I am. I have a new OB who is very VBAC friendly so hopefully I'll get to VBAC next time around.

Another VBACer with a posterior first baby. DD seemed unable to turn, we tried everything! She was LOA until 37weeks, then was ROP into labour at 39w2days. She was born by C/S at 39w6days after a gruelling 80+ hours of labour.

I think we'd like to do an HBAC, we'll plan that way, but I may decide to go to the hsopital, depending on how things are around the house. It might be quieter and easier to relax there!

I'm having an hbac. With dd I was planning a homebirth but she was stubbornly posterior Stayed at home in labor for a couple days (I think I was at a 10 for nearly 24 hours before we transferred) I pushed on and off for like 6 hours!! and at the hospital.. they just weren't very motivated to really help me get her out Was easier just to do a c/s. sigh. I'll be paying a lot more attention to positioning this time around, and seeing a webster certified chiro.

I had a c/s w/ dd1, my water broke before labor started, and being my first I actually went into the hospital and told them what time it broke. 24 hrs later (exactly) they took her, they said it was failure to progress in my labor, very depressing!

With dd2 (I changed docs to a vbac friendly one), my water broke again before labor started. This time I fibbed and gave them the wrong time (we'll blame it on mommy brain ). I gave myself just enough time to get my vbac Whoopie!!!!

We are plannig another vbac and if my water breaks before labor starts, you can bet I'll be forgetting what time it hapened, w/ a wider margin than w/ dd2

Yes, he's not an OB, but an MD, been doing this for a LONG time (40 some years?). Lay midwifes are not legal here in MO. We just had something passed where certified midwives will be legal, but I'm not aware of any of them getting certified around here.

Thank you, I'm hoping monthly chiro and lots of happy thoughts will help that

AMEN SISTER!
DS was a c/sec due to medical impatience - long labor, posterior, pushy docs, too tired to fight anymore mama

DD was born about 18 months later at home, VBAC, HBAC, I guess technically a home water unassisted VBAC, LOL.

We plan to stay at home again this time.

I'm planning a VBAC too. DS was induced, posterier, pushed for 4 hours with no progress...ended up with c/s. I'm excited for my VBAC!!

DH mentioned that hopefully the last OB practice would take me back and I said I already found someone. He then processed to asked if this person was a doc with training and I said she was a MW. He said that what would of happened had we not been at the hospital with both of our boys and I said I would of probably not needed C/Ss! I said I refused to go to any OB and the I respected his wish last time and look where it got me and now it is his turn to respect mine! He said it is not just up to me to decide and I said I found my provider and she has a great track record with VBACers! He said he did not want to be at the back of someone's else's house. Goes to show he has no clue bc she has a beautiful birth center. I am not backing down bc I am not going to be strapped to the bed again!!!! I was told I would be able to get up and move around with DS2 and they only let me do that the first few hrs then I could no longer get out of bed and things just went down hill!

Thank you for letting me VENT!!
