DD1 was an emercency csection due to bleeding. They tried to enduce at 36 weeks because of the bleeding and she stressed. NICU for a week and Apnea monitor for 4 months. Horid experience.

DD2 was in a hospital 36 hour labor, VBAC. I did lie about the time my water broke by an hour or so cause I thought I would have a problem, but I didn't. They jsut said they wanted to start antibiotics at 24 hours. However I did want natural childbirth but was not progressing. A doula friend of the family suggested I get an epi to try to destress my body some and open up. labor slowed, pitocin.. anyway at least she was a VBAC

This time I would love to have a HBAC, but am planning a hospital birth and maybe if I can handle it will jsut end up with a UHBAC

This babe will be a VBAC. DD was a c/s after labor stalled at 6 cm. I was in the hospital, they had no patience, the usual drill.

I've got a midwife this time and met my doula today for the first time. I will be in the hospital for the VBAC, but they are supportive so far.

Liz- I was stuck at 6 too. I just loved what my new midwife had to say about it. She said that she often observes labor stall in order to give the woman an opportunity to rest, sleep and rejuvinate for a while before kicking in again. She said that she sees it happen before the pushing phase too.

Now if I had been able to let my body do what it needed to do to preserve itself in a long grueling labor (instead of pushing all kinds of things to keep it going) I may have had the fortitude to make it to the end.

I'm soo excited about a HBAC. Really. excited!

I'm planning for my second HBAC with this new baby. My first HBAC went pretty smoothly and I forgot to be worried during labor Right after my daughter was born, the midwife and I were talking and all of a sudden we both remembered my last birth had been a C/S. It was kind of a funny moment--we were like "Wow! Cool!"

Me! I transferred to the hospital last time after 17 hours of labouring at home (with anticipation of a home birth) and ended up in an emergency c-section within 20 minutes of arriving at hospital. Our daughter was in fetal distress and then ended up in the SCU for 10 days post-delivery.

Now the debate between my husband and I becomes VBAC at home or at the hospital.....I would prefer home but he is deadset against it. It's a discussion over the next few months that I'm not looking forward to!

Andrea, maybe he'd be willing to compromise with birthing in a hotel thats *right* next to a hospital?
