yes, it is a wives tale, but like funfunkyfantastic said, hospitals are always packed on full moon nights. So there must be some truth to it. While it seems like a nice thought at first to have the full moon put me into labor (because it would be 2-4 days before my due date, the thought of being in a packed hospital is not that appealing. I want my own room!!! Not to be in the hallway like other mamas I know have ended up because there were just too many mamas having their babies all at the same time.
I would would think the same sort of problem would happen with homebirthers if they are having a midwife attend. If many mamas all spread out around the area are going into labor, it would be really hard for the same midwife to be with them all. She would have to have multiple back ups maybe.
