South Sound MDC-style Child or Family Therapist

Hey Olympia-area/South Sound area MDC'ers -

I'm looking for recommendations for great MDC-style child therapists who could work with us/help us with our almost 5 yo ds.

It's been a rough year (his baby sister has been though treatment for brain cancer) and I think he needs a little professional help to process all the traumatic events and feelings. And we need a little professional help so we can better support him. He's a bit wacky these days - totally understandable - but I fear he'll get stuck in a wacky place without some counseling. As may his dear parents!

The closer to Olympia, the better. Thanks in advance - Isis

I don't know if she sees kids, but I have seen Audrey Glenn (253) 566-2850 here in Tacoma through some of the toughest times in my life, and she has always been very supportive, caring, compassionate, and professional. She appears to be pretty crunchy - supportive of nursing, co-sleeping (actually helped me convince my mom it was better!), etc.

Anyway, I would trust her with my life. (I guess in a way I have...) And I would trust anyone she would recommend. IME, it would be worth the trip to see her.

Also, I have noticed that Mary Bridge has some support groups for kids. I was thinking about seeing if my now four year old wanted to go to the one for grieving children, just so she could see that other kids have lost sisters too.

I hope that things get much better for your family soon.

My friend Jen LeMay is a mother of a young boy herself and fabulous. Her office is in Tacoma. You can find her contact info on her website: http://www.inspiritcounseling.org/

I don't have a specific rec, but I know for kids that young the recommendation is usually to find a therapist that uses play therapy. I hope you find someone that can help you through all this. Sounds really rough.
