Team Bill!

=========

How can they end it that way?!!
I read online about this show possibly starting about a year ago after I had started reading the books and was SO psyched since I LOVED SFU and Alan Ball and LOVED Buffy and thought, WOW, a vampire series by the creator of one of my all time favorite shows! This is going to be awesome!

I thought it was awful. Terribly boring. Bad acting. I thought Bill was creepy. Tara was OTT rude. Even the opening credits were dull. I think of some of my favorite shows - Dexter, Curb, SFU, even Sex and the City and they all had really good intros, good/catchy songs. This one was boring, IMO. It set the tone for a boring show to follow.

I'm just glad Dexter is starting in a couple weeks - I HOPE that will live up to my expectations, because this really, really didn't. At least not for me.

I enjoyed it! I can't wait for the next episode. They need to tweak a little bit here and there, but overall it was really good.

I have no idea why I have HBO right now either. Must be preview week or something so I may not get to see another episode.

Ah, that's good to know. I didn't know it's based on a book. I don't know anything about it, actually. Though I did notice that it's dated 2007 in the IMDb.

I was pretty dubious until Claire Danes' character showed up. I like her.

Journeymom - there are 8 books in the series so far, and you can find them used on Amazon for pretty cheap (even in hardback).

I thought it was pretty iffy. I won't give up on it yet and I hope they settle in, but it wasn't great for me.

Journeymom - Who was Claire Danes' character? I didn't see Claire Danes and can't find her mentioned online anywhere? Just tryimg to figure out what I missed...

Anna Paquin (Sookie). I get her mixed up with Claire Danes.

Heh. Claire Danes played a character named Sookie in Igby Goes Down.

Aha! She does look very different with the blonde hair, I think. I can see the confusion

I loved Igby Goes Down - great movie!

it was a bit off for me as well and i LOVE me some vamps - bill was a bit creepy and i thought i might like a vamp show on hbo, allowing for more exploration, but it might be a bit TMI for me... we'll see.

I liked it. I'm not sure it's worth subscribing to HBO for though. I think for now, I'll stick with Showtime. They seem to be the premier network for tv shows as far as I'm concerned.

Watched the first episode and all the little intro bits OnDemand this week. I think the actress doing Tara is way overplaying, but there may yet be a reason for that. There is a splash of comic bookness in the series, for good or ill.

I was surprised to find that Bill and Sookie's brother Jason were played by British and Australian actors, respectively. The accent I thought was the worst, which was Tara's, is actually from a USA actor. Anna Paquin grew up in NZ, but she's originally from Canada.

I'm enjoying it. There's definitely a bit of camp going on, but I'm interested enough to see where it's going with the season.

It's amusing, but not brilliant. That is how I'm feeling about it now.

I've only watched the first episode so far, and my review was mixed. I liked it because I'm a big fan of the books, so it was interesting to see how it stuck to the books and how it deviated. If I didn't know the books so well, I don't think that I would have bothered to watch the whole thing. It was kind of choppy and over-the-top and weird.

I can't recommend the books enough. They're called the Southern Vampire Series by Charlaine Harris. The books aren't great literature or anything, but they're a fun read and even laugh-outloud funny in parts.

Katie Bug's Mama - did you see the guy they casted for Eric? All I can say is wow. He's perfect. And just gorgeous beyond words.

No, I haven't. I've been wondering who they would get to play him. Yum. I wonder who will play Alcide and Quinn (assuming the series lasts that long?) Double yum.

He's going to be played by Alexander Skarsgard - google him. I'd find a pic as Eric but I'm at work and can't search for images. Here he is at IMDB: click

I gotta say it, it makes literally no sense that Jason gets so much attention from women. EWWWWWWWWWWWW

There's a reason for it, I swear. You just won't find out for a while (it's in book 8).

Yep--there's a very good reason. It's the same reason that Sookie has her "disability," but I'll say no more.

Unless, of course, you PM me and ask for a spoiler.

I'll not ask for a spoiler, but is there more to Grandma than we're seeing? Just a yes or no will suffice, thank you.

I don't remember who Eric is. Have we met him? His dad, Stellen SkarsgĂĄrd, is pretty good looking.
