Good luck everyone! We're in central Texas, but my in-laws are in Pasadena. Actually, they were supposed to leave on vacation to Italy this morning, so now they're trying to leave out of Dallas. They boarded up the windows and hope the house will be okay in 15 days when they get back!

Saw pictures of surfside a few minutes ago, and some houses are already under water. Angela

My parents are boarding up some windows, not all. But they have lots of safe/non-windowed places in their house which we don't have in ours.

Going to make some banana bread this morning if I have time.

not the news I was hoping for.

I hope that ya'll do ok. I have a cousin in Cleveland which is north east of Houston and she is "hunkering down" and staying there even though I told her she could drive up to the Dallas area and bring her dogs and stay with me.

Yeah, makes for good footage as all of the houses on the beach are already condemned... I figure it will either be the usual (sand sucked out from under foundation, water downstairs) or it will be totally ripped apart. No in between... we shall see.

Stay safe.

We're not boarding, but we have storm windows on nearly every window.

We'll be spending tonight on the living room floor under the stairs with a barricade between us and the french doors/windows. That's the best we get in this house.

I *really* don't want any damage to house or cars. Tree limbs are inevitable at this point, I just want them to fall in such a way to not damage anything... is that too much to ask?

turn turn turn... there's still time... we can't miss it all together, but if it turns soon we can have an easier go of it.

Who was it on the news who said, in a hurricaine, what's good for you, is bad for someone else. Isn't there somewhere uninhabited Ike could visit?

Kati, are you still around? How are you doing?

I'm going to go make these: Blueberry Banana Muffins.

Oh, if it the appliance makes bread or waffles (basically any carbohydrate) he will be a happy man ready to remain married for a hundred years. That's the great thing about marrying a foodie.

Yeah, the girls are praying for no power since I said we would be forced to eat the ice cream.

MV - we're still here and doing good. Although my body definitely tells me there is a pressure change - I woke up this morning with a nosebleed. I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow and just hoping, hoping, hoping the barometric pressure doesn't send me into labor until Sunday morning.

Although a hurricane combined with a full moon on Monday night - I think this baby is coming out whether or not she wants too!

Luckily, we're at one of the highest parts of Houston, so no flooding concerns. The husband won't listen to me when I asked him to board up "some" windows though. I don't care about them all, but our next door neighbor believes his house is a dumping ground for construction site debris, so let's just say his house is a projectile breeding ground. Makes me so mad that he doesn't seem to be concerned that his mess could really mess with someone else! :

Oh well - we went to Target last night and I now have a good supply of Pop Tarts and Dr. Pepper - so bring it on Ike!

Yeah, there are houses being built all over our neighborhood. I went over to Kate's house yesterday to make sure it was secure. I saw all the construction sites were just a complete mess with trash, debris, pallets of wood, and other potentially dangerous projectiles everywhere. Scary, scary, scary. I am trying to figure who to call with the builder to complain about it. :

Does the builder have signs up?

Hey, so, where are the politicians?

Last week was it when Gustav was coming and the conventions were on or just finished, everyone was all over Gustav.

Maybe I've missed it?

I stopped by the model home yesterday to talk to the person I know there, but they were already closed up for the storm. So, I have no idea who we need to call. UGH!!!

I don't think you've missed it ... I just don't think they care, yet. Plus, for the rest of the country, I think everyone yesterday was focused on 9/11 remembrances and no one knew this was coming.

I almost completely forgot about 9/11.

Still, I couldn't find a single article about a candidate saying anything?

Watching the news....WHO are these people who are "riding it out" in Galveston, Kemah, and other evacuated areas. Are they looking at the freaking news? I hope they're right about being OK through this...
