This weeks Target ad is ticking me off - Page 2

Our target has some natural minded things. However I went to buy some of the gerber dsq diapers for my sister, they had the diapers. They did not have pins of even the gerber vinyl pants. BTW the gerber dsq diapers are actually quite good. Not as thick as some but much thicker and longer then the birdseye.

For those who are saying cost is prohibtive, start out small. I get "paid" once a month. I would buy off of craigslist mostly. I slowly but surly got a "stash" Even if you are only buying 2 diapers a month, that is 2 less sposies every day or every other day. And the laundry issue was really not that big of a deal. I threw in dirty duds with my daughters clothes. ALL the clothing came out clean and smell free.

I think PP are right about the main issue. As target , or any store, sees an increase in natural minded products they will get on board. They are not about to loose a buck. We have to be consistent about buying such products. That is the only way we will see more stuff.

As for the formula being on sale that could be a good thing. Maybe more moms are nursing and they are trying to get rid of oversupply.

My target is the same way.... i finally asked if they had pins or covers for the diapers and the sales person looked at me like i was nuts lol. but we do have a good selection of breastfeeding supplies.. but it takes up maybe half an isle while formula alone takes up a whole isle. i still cant figure out how there is soooo many different kinds of formula.

I bought a bum genius cloth diaper at target just because they had them. Our target also has baby legs, wet bags, hot slings, nursing covers (hooter hider brand) and a huge nursing section. DH bought the pis at the hospital gift shop where we had our baby and it was $50.00 less then the stores and a portion of the money went to the NICU.

I think they should give gift cards for nursing products as well. As far as CD, I did what a pp suggested, I bought a few at a time. I just recently bought some off craigs list and they look brand new. I like buying them at target, because there was no shipping cost.

My target is also like this.

Good thing we've got an AP store in town that sells the good stuff. :

As for the cost of cloth diapering, my friends threw me a diaper party when I was pregnant with #2 (all sposies with #1). So we got our starter stash for free. I've started adding a Bum Genius to the mix every paycheck. I hate using sposies now. (used them on vacation, sooooo many blowouts and that chemical smell totally couldn't handle it). As for laundry, I'm always doing laundry anyway so one more load never made a difference.

But I'm lucky that my SAH hubby is down with the cloth.

However as I always say, "It's your baby and your money."

My target calls its BF supply aisle "natural feeding"

Oh, and the laundry I'm right with ya mama!!
I registered for prefolds and snappis and got used covers and repurposed a covered pail. My total spent was under $35.

To the topic at hand, I saw last night that my store has its bf supply aisle labeled "natural feeding" I assume because the printed word "breast" is too much. In some sense though, I think it's also a bit insensitive to FFers, because it draws into contrast the "unnaturalness" of that option. I talked to a manager, it's corporate policy, blah blah blah, filled out a comment card with my name and number, etc.

It just irked me. I nursed my son for 3 years. I'm about to have another baby. And the NAME of how I feed my children is offensive? Seriously?

Oh, good grief . I think those who are *THAT* offended better get therapy.

Perhaps they should call the bottle feeding supplies "Unnatural feeding". I really don't see what's wrong with calling it breastfeeding. I kind of chuckled to myself when I saw the sign at my local Target. But I know people would get all up in arms at the mention of the word "breast"
I'll give Target credit though. I can buy replacement parts for my breastpump there, cloth swim diapers, leather toddler booties and all kinds of things that I'd have to really search for if they didn't have them.

I just helped my sister register at Target and we didn't see any cloth diapers. hmm. Seems like they would--she lives in a crunchy part of Oregon, after all! Are they by the disposables?

In my Target, they're with the baby clothes. They don't have a great selection though- mostly prefolds and I didn't see any covers or diaper pins.

I don't mind the term "natural feeding" especially not enough to complain about it. And I think that EBF and BF need to be seen as natural. Everyone knows that BM comes from breasts, but not all see it as "natural." I think that's the cultural change that is needed.

Although I don't like it, formula will always be on sale, or part of a deal. Like any other manufactured product, they have expiration dates, and often the warehouse will have too much stock. And if formula is on sale, why not put bottles on sale, that'll really move both products. Breastpumps don't have expirations, so won't be on sale or part of a promotion very often.

On the subject of diapers, DD1 was in sposies because the diaper service would not return my numerous calls, and I only saw $300+ starter packages online (pocket, AIOs, etc.--I didn't really know what to look for). I switched DD2 to cloth at 6mo old, after discovering that prefolds do, in fact, still exist. We bought 16 prefolds and three covers and they lasted from 6m to when she potty trained. Not bad for $75!! In regards to the laundry, it's amazing how fast you'll wash the diapers when you realize LO is in *the last diaper*. And I absolutely suck at doing the laundry. DH, on the other hand, threw out a few prefolds when he was out of the house with DDs because they were poopy and he didn't know what to do with them. So occasionally I would pity him and give him a few sposies (and to spare my very small stash!)

One of the great things about breastfeeding: there's not that much to buy, and what you do need to buy you probably only need to buy once or a few times. It makes sense that there would be fewer coupons and less shelf space in the store.

I got my Medela pump at Target on sale so they definately put them on sale. For those that have to use formula and are not able to exclusively breastfeed, it sure is nice having formula on sale because it is so expensive.

I would agree Target is like a circus. Which smells like popcorn.

But oh, come come, cut the tired, starving mommies some slackola. The party food is to get the little ones throught the store with minmal meltdown. lol

And also for the hungry mamas who are running through as fast as they can while the babies sleep, and they haven't had a thing to eat in hours.
