Homebirth Doula recommendations?

Hi all,
I'm new to this site so I hope that I am posting in the appropriate place. I'm looking for a doula in NYC to attend my homebirth in early 2009. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thank you!

Congrats on your pregnancy and your upcoming homebirth! I birthed at home last year with my second son and it was an amazing experience. I love attending homebirths because women are so free to labor as they need to. If it is your first homebirth, I hope you are as thrilled with the experience as I was.

There are a ton of amazing doulas in NYC and most love attending homebirths. You will also hear great things here about Haya and Ina from Clearbirth, Natasha (who teaches the only childbirth ed calls for homebirthers), Sarah Moore, and others.

A lot of finding a doula to work with is about personality and finding someone who you can feel really comfortable with. You might also ask your midwife is she has any one who she particularly likes to work with. I have a few midwives who send people to me regularly because we work really well together - you might see if your midwife feels this way about any local doulas.

Good luck!

I loved Natashia Fuksman:

She was strong, focused and perfectly attentive.

I am not a Doula...

... but I put up a post in here about a week ago explaining that I took a course to become a certified child birth educator and my only requirement that I have yet to fill to become certified is to observe two births and provide labor support. I am supposed to fulfill this by December 31st, but was given an extension due to the fact that I just had my third child in August of this year. I have great life experience + all of the information that I learned in my class... and of course I would provide this service for FREE... please let me know if you might be interested in helping me meet my requirement. I would be grateful and honored. (Or if you know anyone else in NY who may be looking for labor support.. I would appreciate that as well.)
Thank you!!!

NubiaEarth-

If you want, you might consider either shadowing another doula (I can help you find some doulas who might have births coming up that they would let you shadow on) or you might offer this help to some of the homebirth midwives - some might have clients who can not afford a doula but who would like some help with the labor. If you want to email me, I can help put you in contact if you would like.
