x-posted in toddlers

I am going to make a waldorf doll for my DD. I first thought of getting her a mommy and a baby in a sling, now i am second guessing my self and wondering if i should get her a baby.

any thoughts?

the one thing i would suggset is to make sure to make a smaller sized doll- say between 10" and 12" or so. i made my dd a 16" baby when dd2 was born (she was 2) and it was just to big for her at the time. people had warned me to make a smaller doll but i liked the pattern so much at the time that i did it anyway

the other thing to keep in mind is that children at this age still have the ability to turn anything into a baby. you could make a neutral style little love type doll and she could be either baby or mummy- whatever your dd wanted.

if i did this again i would do a 12" waldorf doll and make a little 3" bunting doll to go with her so that the baby has a baby hth!

I love the Jammie Baby from Fern and Faerie.

It's a pretty simple pattern, and this doll has been loved by several little people in my life.

I've also bought pre-made doll heads (the inside) from Weir Dolls and Crafts (the 12" size works great), which is a handy shortcut.

I think I would go with the baby. DD was just over 2 when DS was born and she got quite into looking after her baby when I was dealing with him.

She wasn't quite able to dress it herself but she did enjoy running off to fetch clean clothes and nappies for me to change it.

I also made a tiny knot doll for her baby just like DSs

I want to make one of these

and here's the pattern I used for the knot doll
