prodromal torture

Anyone else experiencing this? I had a lot of "warm up" labor with my first, but nothing like this. This is horrible. I woke up this morning thinking I might actually be in labor (which I am really not ready for...since things are so haywire and we have a date for next week, I am just focusing on making it to that day). But it's just these pukey little contractions that hurt like hell for about 20 seconds, and then fizzle away. But they really REALLY hurt, like I can't sleep through them. And they don't go away when I lay down or get in water or whatever. I can make them space out to 10 minutes by relaxing, but they don't go away entirely. They come about every 5-7 minutes when I am up. They only stop entirely if I get on my hands and knees. I think maybe baby is posterior, because my DIY cervical check shows me at exactly the same dilation and effacement as I was at my appointment almost a week ago--NO change. Lots of mucus, but no change at ALL. And the contractions hurt my back so much I want to punch something. Grrr.

Same situation here. I just think it's our bodies practicing for a nice, lovely birth

Not like yours but i've had prodromal labor for the past few days. Luckily for me it's long and mostly painless contractions. (by long i mean 6-9mins a contraction... i'm not talking seconds at all... these are actual contraction lengths.) The contractions are mostly sporadic though and not evenly spaced in any way. During some of them I feel baby's head being pushed hard into my cervix... and then a few contractions later she's moved and all I feel is a hard belly. I don't really know what's going on yet... but I suppose this is all working me towards real labor?

Probably small consolation right now but I was there and by the time I finally thought it ~might~ be real labor and called the doc to come check me I was at 9 cm.: It did suck at the time but at least it wasn't for nothing!

I'm here with you, it hurts to drive, to sit to lay to walk...you name it. I'm so uncomfortable. I want to get out of the house and do something, but i'm afraid to go to far or be in the car for to long. Babies please come out to meet us mama's waiting for you.

Yep - work is the worst - trying to sit up in a somewhat professional manner. But being at home is bad too. At least here I'm distracted.

If you think they're trying to turn baby from a posterior position, you might try a diaphragmatic release.

Gahh! I could have written this post. I had one contraction that was so painful last night for 11minutes. It was crazy.
Then the pressure, then it seems the baby is gone and just a hard tummy.
Then for almost an hr I had 20-30second contractions. Weird night. Not wanting to experience it again to soon.

And last night I didn't get any breaks either. Usually they fizzle out at night... but this time they continued while I slept. A few were painful enough to wake me. But after they ended I went back to sleep... lol. This is gonna be a nice long labor... lol.
