Seriously awesome, one of the only sites I've found with free DIY wood toy instructions!

Thanks for posting that! After going through all the cool toy making instructions last night, I had a hard time falling asleep- I was so fired up to do some! Today I think we'll do the snowglobe/babyfood jar project .

Shoot. Now I need a scroll saw. ;P (It swears that if I can run a sewing machine I'll be fine.) Guess we'll be having a tool-themed Christmas since I was already planning on getting DH tools (to make me..I mean DS...toys).

Get it, seriously, just get the scroll saw!!! It is easier than sewing. Way easier... little prep, no pinning and bunching and threading the machine... ughhhh I have been using mine for three days and I am now down a bunch of scrap wood and up two horses *one made by DH, two alligators and a tree. I can't wait to see what I can do with more practice. And I've only broken one blade. I love the FO's... something that hardly ever happens when I sew...

HAHA! I told DH I wanted one for Christmas. His eyes got kind of big, but he didn't scream and run away. Luckilly, he knows how to use them, and I come from a home were all DIY is done by my mom. So I'm reasonably handy give then incentive.

I want a scroll saw too! I told DH and he thinks I would really enjoy it and said he would show me how to use one. (I think he just likes the idea of getting more woodworking toys.)

I've also been pestering my DH about getting a scroll saw. We just got finished revamping the garage, and now that it's all nicely organized, I think we'll have a nicer working area for one.

My grandfather had one, and my brother inherited all his tools. But since he still lives at home, I might try to convince my bro to let me borrow it for a while. I don't think he'd mind.

Heck, I used a scroll saw in girl scouts as a kid and made horses then, so surely I can handle it now to make little toys.

Love that tree as well! I'm totally inspired.

After browsing through this thread, I'm convinced I need a scroll saw too

I mentioned it to DH last night (he happens to be a woodworking God with no time) and I think he's a little excited to get a new toy too.

I'm so excited about the Wooden Memory Game. How have I never thought of this?

This is great for ideas. Thanks for posting the link!!

Does anyone know if owning a scroll saw would be practical when living in an apartment? I would really like one, but do they make lots of noise or take up lots of space?

THANK YOU for posting this link. I have wanted to get DD playsilks for a while but am too cheap to pay $10+ each. Her instructions for buying them cheaply undyed and dyeing them is just what I needed! :

I ordered some right away and can't wait to get them and sneakily dye them when DD is at school or asleep. She will go nuts on Christmas morning. She is obsessed with the playsilks we dance with at Nia Tots.

XOXO

I did a dozen for under $50 - in about an hour and a half! (2 of each color). It was really fun!!! I'm doing more this month with a friend.
