flashbacks

Anybody else have flashbacks? How do you deal with them?

I have flashbacks to what the mw did to me before the transfer, and because this happened in my home, I have a big problem with location triggers. If we sell this house and move then maybe I'll have fewer of those flashbacks. I also have flashbacks to the c section in the hospital. Mostly when they happen I just try to distract myself by thinking of something else. Is there a better way to cope?

EMDR helped me immensely with flashbacks and worked to really seriously reduce the intensity of triggers for me. a year ago i couldn't even watch a movie with a birth plot in it, nor could i comfortably be in the same room with a newborn.

i started EMDR in may/june, and now i can read stuff on the birth forum, watch movies with births in them, and offer to help my new mama friends out after their babies are born

i still have rough moments, but on the whole it's night and day from what it was.

i also take zoloft.

I have flashblacks, too. Every time I drive by the hospital I have flashbacks of being in the OR and having my body cut open to get my son out. Sometimes, at home I have flashbacks too, of pushing on the toilet, laboring in the tub, etc. It's gotten a little better with time. I can't stand to watch anything with a birth scene, and thinking about a c section and how my uterus was taken compleatly out of my body to be repaired makes me physically sick. What is EMDR?
