Another "great" medical talk show...

I just happened to tune in on Dr. Phil's (he's the producer) new talk show The Doctors on CBS. Among other topics they discussed whether Gardasil is safe or not and should be given to teenage girls or not. I almost went ballistic. On the risk-side, a mom recounted how her (I think) 11-year old daughter had a seizure 2 minutes after the shot and has since had joint pain and other afflictions. For the mom it was clear that it was the shot. It was outrageous, the ER doctor literally said: "Every time I give a Tylanol there is the risk of a side effect. I don't think it was the vaccine that caused the seizure". Even more obnoxious was the obstetrician/gynecologist, who dared to say: "I see patients faint all the time in my office because they are scared of a shot or a procedure".

I'll never ever watch this show again. They quasi ridiculed the mom and her daughter and kept repeating that 9000 reported adverse reactions to Gardasil are nothing compared to 16 million doses given so far - saving of course millions of women from cancer...

Anyone else seen this show?

I watched it too and couldn't believe what I was seeing. It is amazing how they use fear of cervical cancer to make people overlook the dangers of the Gardasil vaccine.
The ER Dr said he didn't believe the vaccine made her faint and have a seizure. Ridiculous.

Wow - how condesending. Bad enough what happened - but now let's act like they're crazy...it wasn't the vax...nooo...

I think that Dr. Bob Sears is supposed to be part of that series.

A disgusting show for sure. Also, remember to get the flu shot-doctors orders. @@

Did they discuss the 21 reported deaths and 44 reported cases of Guillain-Barré Syndrome associated with administration of the Gardasil vaccine in the past two years?

Or this?:

Quote:
While Gardasil was being tested in the U.S. before it was licensed, 10 people in the group that received the HPV vaccine and 7 people in the placebo group died during the trials.
Although the CDC does, of course, note that
Quote:
None of the deaths was considered vaccine-related.

The denial is astounding. Wow.

So any dose of Tylanol can cause a side effect...but the same doesn't apply to vaccines?

Yeah...I find it to be really scary how incredibly determined they are to never, ever have anything negative associated with vaccines. It is very creepy.

Right. It doesn't cause adverse reactions, but even if it did, that's okay too.

How typical. I knew that show would be slanted on the side of allopathic medicine. I even think I saw somewhere that an upcoming topic is hb and how dangerous that is

They were on again today talking about Gardasil. The OB said that the worst side effect is soreness and she even said that the vax cures cancer. This show makes me sick. It is so biased it's crazy. I've been disappointed with Dr. Sears as well.

Yep...there's a topic in the homebirth forum about it, with a link to submit your "homebirth horror story" to the show. Lots of us have been sending in our overwhelmingly positive homebirth stories instead.

ARGH That's so f*ing irresponsible!!!!!!!!!!!! Even the commercial has a disclaimer that the vax does not cure cancer!

I've been SO disappointed with Dr. Sears. Either he won't speak up much on these things or they won't let him. I'm hoping it's the latter. I HATE this show.

I saw a part of the show where they were discussing the <enter terrifying music> DANGERS OF HOMEBIRTH and all of the things that *can* go wrong.

I almost puke ever time I scroll past the one hour segment on my way to a more rewarding show (like Maury Povich LOL)

ugh, ugh, ugh.

My mom had my baby sister (13) get this. She didn't faint or have a seizure, but she ran an incredibly high fever and felt like (UAV) for a week. Very lethargic and whiny (opposite of her normal behavior). But, the doctor said she might....so it's okay.:

actual convo between me and my mom:

Me: She doesn't need it - it's for an STD.

Mom: Oh, but we have a family history of cervical cancer. That's why your grandma had a hysterectomy.

Me: Grandma is a [UAV]. How do you think she contracted herpes and warts and crabs? That's what happens when you jump into bed with any man who wants to take a shot at fondling your kids and grandkids.*

Mom:

Me: Yeah, I said that.

(*Grandma seems to have a pedophile magnet imbedded in her vagina.)
