Ah good, that matches what I thought (39 celsius = 102.2 fahrenheit)

Okay this might be a dumb question.. how do you measure the temp of your bath? Can you just use a regular fever thermometer? I'm curious how hot I have mine usually. Last time, I was giving dd a bath and was in the tub with her. Once the water had cooled off to the point where it was too cold for me to want to stay in anymore, I got out, dd soon following of course. Then dh stepped in and was like, geez! Its so hot! I could never bathe in water this hot! ..And I had gotten out because it was coo cold.

I would just use a cheap floaty pool thermometer, you can get them pretty much anywhere, walmart, target, pool supply store, I think down here even our grocery stores sell them sometimes.

Yep!

The only thing with the one I have is it tends to float into a corner and become invisible. It's small, clear glass, hard to spot. Hence my big tacky flower hair ornament I've attached to it!

Hello ladies! I have 3 weeks to go and I had a question. I've read somewhere in here that you can buy blow up pillows to use in the birth pool? I have no idea here to find those...Any help please?

thanks!

I'm just going to use regular pillows, inside garbage bags duct taped shut. Then those are going to be duct taped in place to the tub wherever I want them, and the liner goes over that. I guess they're in bags so just in case the liner rips they aren't ruined.

I used one of those inflatable neck pillows that you would use on the airplane last time, it worked well for me. Not sure where DH found it though. Or where it is now... I should see if I can dig it out before I go into labour.

thank you for the suggestions!

PM your email, and I'll send you more info. He wrote an article and submitted it to Mother Earth News, I think.

Oooh, great idea. I had one and gave it to MIL, but don't think she's ever used it. I can ask for it back!

Not doing home birth (it's actually illegal in my state from what I understand), but the next best thing. I'm having my little bundle at a freestanding birth center instead. They don't have the policies that scared me away from the hospital. It really feels like having a home birth to me, just at someone else's house.

That's great, Maehaftahurcha! If I had the option of a nice birth centre, I might go for that - save all the fuss of gathering supplies and worrying about my house being clean enough! We don't have birth centres here.

Target has inflatable neck pillows in their travel section. I got mine in a kit originally that had a travel pillow, fleece blanket, and eye mask. They sell them separately as well, but when I last looked they were $11! I had been using mine in the bath almost every day and if finally got a leak in it and I wanted to get a new one but refused to pay that much money for one! So I picked up an inflatable bath pillow (the kind that suction cups to the tub) at the dollar store last week. $1 seemed more reasonable!

Oh, and for those worried about the first postpartum bm-- magnesium citrate is a natural laxative. I just realized that's the reason I've most likely never been constipated when pregnant. I buy the Natural Calm brand of it and take 3 1/2 teaspoons (it's a powder you mix with warm water) a day. 4 teaspoons gives me diarrhea, so I knew to back off just a little bit. My 5 1/2 year old son takes it daily as well and can handle 2 1/2 teaspoons daily. We like the raspberry lemonade flavor. You can get it any health food store, although I buy ours from vitacost.com since it's so much cheaper.
