We are home and doing well. He is such a sweet and mellow little guy.
Pictures to follow.
I went to my regular midwife appointment at 10 am. She checked me, and I was 1cm and 80% effaced. She said my cervix was too high to sweep the membranes. By the time she had the EPO to help the cervix, I had dropped enough to sweep the membranes. I was asked to come back at 4pm to check again. I started having contractions close enough that my husband took me back to the birthing center. I was at 3 cm, so we went for a walk for about an hour and a half. We hung out at the birthing center for a bit, had some dinner and was checked to be 4cm. I decided to go into the tub to help relax between contractions. Two hours later I was almost 6 cm. The midwife broke my water. I hopped back into the tub and did NOT want anyone to touch me. I didn't want the midwife to check me. She made me get out of the tub when I was about 8 cm. I climbed onto the bed. She gave me some drugs at my request, and I actually fell asleep. I woke up in terrible pain, but once again, didn't want any one to check me. She finally got to check me and I was over 9 cm. She said I could go ahead and push if I wanted. I yelled that I didn't have to push, I had to go to the bathroom. They wouldn't let me (imagine that) and I wound up rolling onto my hands and knees and pushed the head out in four pushes. I was so relieved and then tried to sleep after holding the baby. I still did not want to be touched to get the placenta out, or to repair the tear along the episteotomy from DD. I really went wild and was kicking and screaming about not wanting to be touched. He came out healthy and is still doing wonderfully. I am so glad he is here. I had problems with this pregnancy and thought was going to lose him several times.
