Zara Olivia is here!!!

Wow, the past few days have been pretty busy for our DDC! Zara Olivia decided to make her arrival Fri. Sept 5 @ 9:40am. I woke up a little before 6 as dh was getting ready for work. I thought I would get another hours rest before dd woke up. By the time dh was ready for work at 6:15 I'd already had 3 birthing waves and he decided to stick around longer to see how things were going. I assumed my labor would be similar to the labor I had with dd (2 hrs). That way, things would take awhile to fall into a pattern and I could labor at home for a few hours before heading to the hospital. By 7:30 my surges were less 4 minutes apart and getting closer together. Things were definitely going faster than they did before so we called the OB and started getting ready for the hospital. It was pretty exciting. When dd woke we started telling her she'd see her little brother or sister soon. We were able to have friend meet us at the hospital to take care of dd. I don't know how much dd processed about what was going on. She was definitely confused, but stayed calm and went with the flow.

I was using Hypnobabies to help me manage and stay calm. Once I was in the OB triage, things started getting more intense. They were watching my readings on the monitor and I guess a nurse was going to check on me eventually, but it got to the point dh had to call them in. I had to convince the nurse to check me and she realized I was nearly fully dialated. I told myself that I was going to remember that transition was the hardest part having my first and once I got through it things would be almost over. That sort of went out the window. It just seemed like things were going so fast.

Anyway, they took me to my delivery room. I'm not sure how long I pushed or anything, but we got to the hospital at 8:30 and Zara was born at 9:40. During my pregnancy I thought I was going to have a boy, but was so happy to see my second little girl. Her big sis took to here right away giving her lots of affection and saying what a sweet baby she is. We're just thrilled with our newest family member.
