looking for a mentor, non-profit

I have a degree in, of all things, documentary filmmaking...13 years later and I'm a graphic designer since it's something I can do at home and on my own time for the most part. I love it and have some clients I'm very honored to work with, and am at the ideal for what I do, I am self employed with a loyal clientelle, but it's not what I want to do when I grow up...my dream would have been to do the peace corps after college (but I did the mommy thing instead), I want to get back into something more altruistic, and helps pay the mortgage...and something that I can still grow with career wise. I am wondering what step to take next, should I go out and volunteer locally, should I get an MBA, or is there some middle ground that I could start with?

I have been there and done the MBA ... you will find most of the MBA students (especially part time) are employer-funded ... like mine was. The MBA is well worth it IF it is free. A much tougher decision if it comes out of your own pocket.

I think doing graphic design and youtube film making for a local non-profit would be a good way to challenge yourself. With youtube, you know exactly how many people have seen your message. Be very specific about your goal (fund raising or local action) Of course, this does not help to pay the mortgage
