What do you use your scrap fabric for?

Especially when it doesn't really match?

The only idea I have so far is baby doll quilts (but I don't have enough coordinating scraps yet).

I have used larger scraps to sew cloth grocery bags. But you need decent sized pieces for that.

I have tons of scraps that are under a foot wide that need to get used!

Good question. I've got a trash bag full of fabric scraps that DH wants to throw out, but I can't bring myself to get rid of it. Need some ideas to turn it into useful things!

Heart These

I really love Heather Bailey and that's heightened by the fact that she has free patterns from time to time!

I thought these several things would be fun projects, but I have yet to make any of them. They also use felt pieces.

These are flowers - using more felt than fabric, but I've seen a few that look like more fabric, you'd just have to twiddle a bit to figure how. I love yo yos too, you can make some really cute stuff with them as well.

I never thought of using some scraps for stuffing. Duh!

I used them as wrapping for small gifts for children. I usually just tie it up with a neat knot or use some pretty ribbon or yarn. In fact, now all I want to use is cloth for wrapping so I am constantly scrounging for good sizes of scrap cloth. Plus, the cloth can be used again and again.

I used to be a wrapping paper fiend, I think I have gone 7 years without buying any. Even the after Christmas discounted stuff!

i use scraps for mama pads and cat toys.

cat toys are awesome because cats never care what color their mouse is, and it uses up some for the stuffing.
i cheat and bribe them to play with them by filling with cat nip too.

Making business card holders/wallets

here is a very cute advent calendar that would be fun.

This is a great gift for a baby, so so cute. And perfect for scrap pieces

I've discovered applique recently. I'm in love. I'm thinking of uses for all the cute fabric scraps I've saved.

I've been using scraps to do stuff like this.

So far I've done t-shirts for DD with a heart, a candy corn, and a ladybug. I'm obsessed. I'm planning one with K, her initial and a kite and something, maybe a burp cloth made from a prefold for my cousin's new baby.

I have a TON of scrap fabric and have used it for:
stuffing
put a bunch in a bin and let my kids cut it up and play with it (messy but fun)
doll house pillows and sheets
kid sized oven mit for play kitchen
cleaning the house
diaper doublers and mama pads

Mostly it's just sitting in boxes waiting for some creative inspiration to hit.

I recently made DS a set of bean bags filled with rice, and he plays a toss game with them and my tupperware.

Thanks for posting the advent calender- what a great idea! I have a lot of holiday fabric scraps and was trying to figure out an advent calender layout! Did you just stamp the numbers on with ink?

And if you don't want to do anything with them, just find someone on Craigslist to hand them down to, for free or a small price. I'm selling a huge box of scraps- some in yardage, others in tiny pieces- for $10.

My kids would LOVE their own fabric to chop up! Why didn't I think of that? I'll have to do it - it'll be a great incentive for them to come in and hang out in the sewing room so I can actually get something done in there!!!
Totally stealing that idea, thanks!
