experienced crocheters please help

I bought the cutest knitting pattern for a dress for my dd last spring. It got set aside during some upheaval with our house and I"m finally picking it back up to finish the darn thing and have her wear it a few times before it's too cold or she's outgrown it.

BUT...I lost my pattern. I picked it up for free in a yarn shop while on vacation. I could try to find the yarn shop online somehow and call for another copy to be mailed to me but that will take WAY too long.

SO, I need a little help with the crochet embelishments for the dress. It's a tank top bodice that I remember had some crochet edging around the neckline and armholes. I'm thinking of adding the same detail to the bottom of the skirt as well. I think I remember the pattern had a slip stitch in each stitch and then some double crochets in each slip stitch. It wasn't a ruffled edge just kind of scalloped. Can anyone tell me the best way to acheive this look on the edge of my kitting? Would I use a slip stitch or a single crochet in each knitted stitch? Then how many double crochets to each stitch?

TIA

I would do one round of single crochet, chain 2, i.e. one single crochet in a knit stitch, chain 2 and then another single crochet in the next knit stitch. On the second round, I'd do maybe 3-5 double crochets in every chain 2 space of the previous round. That would give a scalloped look. Similar to this.
