I want to start decorating seasonally.

I have $20-30 to spend. What should I buy and do to make my home festive for fall?

For Autumn:

A really easy decoration for cheap is to fill mason jars about 1/3 of the way with popcorn kernels and rest a tea light in it.

You can also fill mason jars with sheaves of wheat and tie a ribbon around the brim.

I made an autumn wreath for our front door for about 9 dollars. Wreath base: 3.00. Silk flowers: 6.00.

Pumpkins sat on the front porch can be hollowed out and filled with a potted mum plant.

I'll post more later when I get the chance.

Okay, I have more time now.

This week Walgreen's has their fall decor on sale some as cheap as 6/1.00 and kitchen decor is 50 cents.

A handmade quilt makes a cozy table cloth for Autumn.

To use natural items as decor try:
small pumpkins/gourds from your farmer's market
raffia and dried Indian corn
glass containers filled with nuts like walnuts
cornucopias filled with seasonal fruits or veggies
bowls of oranges and apples
beeswax candles
apple place card holders:
take a paper clip and unroll it and then form into a circular roll with a straight piece hanging down to insert into the apple. then place place card into the paper clip circle to prop on top of the apple.
dehydrate fruit for decoration
dry and press leaves for decoration or use as gift tags

seasonal hand towels and floor mats for kitchen, bathroom etc
candles (of course)
front door decor (fall wreath, pumpkins, corn, tea lites, etc)
maybe a fall colored throw blanket?

All are probably conveniently located at your local thrift stores, my friend

HTH!

Start with a tablecloth for the kitchen table. Autumn is easy because you can use apple, pumpkins and gourds to decorate. You can eat the decorations.

I always switch the wreath on my front door (I do a different wreath for fall, christmas, spring, summer) and hang it with a ribbon that matches the season.

I pull out a big wooden bowl (putting away the crystal one from summer) and fill it with little pumpkins, gourds, and sometimes apples. The little pumpkins and squash you can buy at the market this time of the year lasts for one season perfectly.

I burn Yankee candles in pumpkin spice around the house. I have 2 fall throws that go out on the couches, too.

Finally, I have a beautiful cocktail table (square coffee table) that has a glass top that I can put seasonal decor in. It is about 6 inches high, so I do a combination of pictures, little nicknacks, and silk fall leaves.

When it gets closer to halloween, I put little light up pumpkins and cats around, and fill jars with candy corn and put a candle on top.

I know--it is sort of overkill, but I love decorating and making the house "cozy"--and fall and Christmas are my favorite times of the year, so I go all out.

Mmmmm I love fall!! I made a wreath for about $3 plus tax. The Dollar Tree sells plain wooden wreath bases, and different fake flowers and vine type rolls. I bought a base and two 3 ft. long strings of fall colored flowers. I'm going to finish it off with a bow made from wired ribbon that I already have. I just put out pictures from last fall at the pumpkin patch, when we go this year I'll replace the old pics with new ones. I have a centerpiece that I made years ago, it's a small galvanized bucket with fake mums and small scarecrows on sticks. I also have a scarecrow I bought at Michael's for about $6. They have 40% off coupons in the Sunday circulars almost every week.

Also, try freecycle.org! I've seen some really neat stuff given away.
