I'm north of you up in Cocoa and there is a large group of moms from the Melbourne and Palm Bay area.

There is a meetup group, I've not been to any things yet as I haven't had my baby, but the ladies are all really nice

I was going to pop in and mention the Meetup group too! It is really growing by leaps and bopunds, lots of great APing mommas. There is actually a Big playdate and then a mommy night out coming up next week - both which I am sooo looking forward to!

Also the local LLL is Great! Lovely ladies - not sure if you BF or not, but they are fabulous. THere is a Space Coast APing yahoo group you should sign up for too - not very active lately though. Not like the meetup group.

Where does the LLL group meet? I'm planning on breastfeeding, but on the LLL website, the only group I saw was way north.

The day group - I am not sure, you gotta contact the leaders for the location, but it is in or around Melbourne. The night and toddler groups are at the Unity Church in Melbourne - it is north, off Eau Gallie.

Here is the link to the Space Coast LLL page. Join the yahoo group for more detailed info on the meetings, special events, etc. BTW -moms-to-be are always welcome and definitely encouraged to come attend meeting before baby arrives. It lets you be around breastfeeding moms, and develop a realtionship with the leaders and other moms of the group, increasing your support system.

Do you have a link to the yahoo group? Sorry to be such a pain-there's no link to it on the LLL site.
I don't know if I'll be able to make any meetings before he comes-I only have about 6 weeks left!

Not a problem! The yahoo groups are:

SpacecoastLLL

SpaceCoast_AP_Chat

The First is the official LLL site and just has info on meeting, special events, etc.

The AP Chat group - is LLL mamas and other local mamas talking - but is associated with the LLL group. Good info on peds, playgroups, community events, etc.

Next day meeting is Oct 3, night is Oct 9th, and the toddler is Sept 24th.
There are more little babes at the day or evening meetings - but you are still welcome to come to the toddler one (ages 9 months up to 3 or 4 years - this is the one we go to). Two of our toddler moms just had second babes, so I am not sure which meetings they will be attending.

The important part is just to meet other mamas and the leaders. You could go to all three if you wanted to do so!

Hi all, my mom & Sister live in Sebastian and my brother lives in Palm Bay. I am going to visit in the beginning of October. My sister is looking to buy a house in the Palm Bay area.

Does anyone know of any Natural Food stores in the area? I know Wild Oats closed recently.

I have been shopping at Paradise over on Minton Rd. Good selection and prices - better gluten free secetion that Wild Oats had. If you will be in Sebastian - head to the White Rabbit Farm in Vero for your meat and produce.

There's a natural supermarket on US-1 near Eau Gallie, I think? I've never been there, just been suffering since Wild Oats closed =(
There's nothing else close to Palm Bay that I know of.

Dahlea, hi LJ buddy! You absolutely have to come to meetups when you have your baby. That group is awesome! I don't make it to too many because I'm a WAHM and can't get away too much, but those women and their littles one are seriously great!

Manamakeri, hi! This is Chrissy, Nichole's doula client/your LJ friend. I ditto what I said to Dahlea about the meetup group. Seriously wonderful!

Meksmama, I see your location is set to Bridgeport, NY. Is that where you lived before here? I'm from Liverpool, NY originally and my parents spent a few years in Bridgeport before we all moved down here!

Wow, great thread!

I'm in Palm Bay, and one of the LLL Leaders. The Day mtg for Oct will be at the Melbourne Beach Library, as well as December, I believe. We just don't have the mtg room for Nov so we changed it to "call for location" to be safe.

Not sure where it'll be next year. We seem to have some interest in a Palm Bay meeting again, so we may do that. We used to meet at DeGroodt Library but moved to Melbourne Beach in January of this year.

We would love to get the AP yahoo group more active, especially with planning playdates and things. I keep forgetting about the meetup group - going to check it out now

I live in Bridgeport, NY now. my family moved down there 8 yrs ago I think... and I stayed up here. I come down to Florida for a visit about every 6 months or so. I don't think I could ever live there. I would miss the winters.

naturalgirl7: I have been to White Rabbit before my mom thought they had closed... I will check them out! Where on Minton is Paradise? Do they sell organic foods?
