Zen's Den: House of Spelunk (v.II) - Page 9

MMM - I know what it's like to feel like a POAS addict. There should be a 12-step program or something for us. It really is really really early for you, though. I wish I had better advice for holding off but uh... I haven't figured out how to get that kind of willpower yet.

anonyma and LibraryMo - I can't find a book I want to read! I need some new books... time to hit up swaptree (if you don't know what it is and want to sign up, let me know, 'cause they give free shipping for referrals blah blah fishcakes) but that doesn't help for today.

Working on some article revisions and eating chocolate and cottage cheese for breakfast. Not together.

Holy 80 posts in four minutes, Batman! Shall reply more after I figure out what the heck the history of the Thorium Brotherhood is since Blizzard thought they'd just toss them into WoW with minimal lore, and I need to write about the lore.

But maybe it means I'm ovulating earlier in my cycle, too. That would be weird. (I choose to believe that rather than short LP >.>)

(2) Gas here? $5.11/gallon for regular, which is price gouging, but apparently since we didn't BUY any we can't REPORT it as such. Hopefully someone does.

(3) Do we have anyone in Ike's path? If so I really hope you guys are safe somewhere.

(4) I am working on setting up my Etsy shop; I'm finishing one last pair of mitts for a trade and then I'm going to do one for the shop I probably will buy sig ads here on MDC once I... you know, get the money to pay for one. This has been on my wishlist of stuff to do since 2006 so I am pleased. Very pleased.

(5) Do any of you do anything with tarot cards? I am interested in them, right now mostly as a means to create plot and characters for novels

(6) BORED and SLIGHTLY SAD about AF and Ike and gah. OK! Thanks for bearing with my crazy-rant for today!
Sorry about AF. Bummer.
$5.11 for gas? Holy Crap! What's in it? Gold? I bought gas yesterday morning for $3.40 in Minneapolis Metro.
Please, Please Please PM me with your ESTY (and anyone else who has one). I have $$ and no patience for crafts (I cook - Instant Pleasure) but I'm trying to make myself learn how to knit.
And lastly, I read Angel and Goddess cards, but only for me. The Goddess cards might be cool for you to use.

AFM, temp still up (although it was only 97.9 last night - below coverline - and 98.4 this morning - normal for after AF. I thought it was supposed to be HIGHER at night?! Oh well. I'm testing out the OPK/HPT theory still too. My OPK wasn't as dark as yesterday am when I peed on it this morning, but it was darker than it had been yesterday afternoon.... (yesterday afternoon I P'd on it and there was no line at all).

I cracked and bought 2 frer's I'll take next wed.

Funny story - BF and I were talking last night about Baby Mama, and I was telling him how I almost cried when she got a BFN, and he's like "what's a BFN?" So I told him what BFN and BFP were... He was like, "ooooooooooh! I thought a BFP was a Big Fat something else and I thought you guys were being dirty!" hahahahahaha!
LOL. Big Fat p-p's. We don't get THAT excited about THOSE! Your chart looks nice!

flowerZ - where you AT?

olerica - go O' go O' go O'!!
AFM: I will enjoy kayaking down the Nantahala River tomorrow more fully - knowing that when/if I get surfed in some rapid, I won't be unnecessarily stunning any zygote. And then the BEER afterwards will be quite delightful.

You all have a great weekend!
Um... your chart looks the same as the others, except it's 2 days longer LP, so just take 'er easy, missy! Not too many beers.

Ug. DH is so stressed about the presentation he is making with his client Monday that I pulled out all the stops and NOTHING. Grr. I'm trying not to stress him or me so I'm going to the farmer's market.

I'm reading The Dancing Girls of Lahore, which I picked up at Half-Price Books a while ago and am just getting around to reading (srsly, I am 3,483,953,758 books behind on my Want To Read List). It's about the brothel district in the old-town section of Lahore, Pakistan, and so far it's pretty good. I dunno yet if I'd recommend it. I'm pretty good at book recommendations, though, so if you give me some idea of what your favorite authors/titles/genres are, I might be able to help out.

I have yet to succumb to Twilight, mostly because I know I won't get anything done once I start reading them. My BFF (who lives with DP and me) has all of them, and I'm taking an extra-long weekend at the beginning of October, so I've been thinking that maybe I'll curl up and read them all over my time off work.

I think we're going to get Indian food and veg out today. I have the most recent episode of Project Runway DVR-ed. That and laundry are the only things on the Must-Do list for the weekend.
anonyma - Indian food sounds SO good. You're from Pittsburgh, yes? Any chance it's from People's? Because I used to live a block from there and was a regular patron of the lunch buffet. We don't have any Indian restaurants within an hour's drive, and my efforts at making it at home haven't been too successful. Sigh.

Olerica - that station totally has to be price gouging, it's unbelievable.

zen - It ain't over til it's over. I still want you to get a BFP! Although selfishly I wouldn't mind having you as a cycle buddy ha ha ha. I really don't think your chart looks un-promising, so hang in there, because only time will tell. Ugh I hate that saying.

Everyone else scrolled off the page and Z's still downloading, so my internet is so. slow. and I'm sorry if I missed anyone.

Oh! Tarot. I'm interested in learning to read it, kind of part of my explore-my-spirituality journey. Olerica, I'll have to look up information about the Goddess set.

I have a Vertical Oracle set, which isn't like traditional Tarot at all. I like it because the interpretations are very affirming, and the set itself is beautiful. It's a great explore-spirituality set (and I tend to be very curmudgeonly and anti-spirituality in general ). You can get an online reading here: http://www.toriffic.co.uk/vertical_oracle/index.html .

It's not People's, but only because they don't deliver and I'm really feeling too lazy to put on a bra and leave the house today, even for really, really, really good Indian food from People's. It'll probably be India Garden in Oakland, since we can get them delivered, and I can sit on my couch in my yoga pants and hoodie and eat to my heart's content.

oh gosh, how do I ever keep up???
I have a question about today's temp, though:
i usually take it at 7am. today I woke up at 4:30 am, went to pee and couldn't fall back asleep till after 6am. Then took temp at 7am. It was 98.00F. I was gonna discard it, but I felt back asleep pretty much righ away and woke up at 10am. so I got my 3 consecutive hours of sleep. took my temp again and it is 97.97. so do you think I should keep it or discard anyway?
keep it because i got it after three hours of sleep.
discard it because it was too late (10am).

what do ya all say?

I'm off with dd to her rhythmic gymnastics. "I'll be baaack".
People's delivers! Or at least they used to... maybe only for dinner, though. I lived literally a block away - they're at Penn and Evaline and I was at Penn and Pacific. I am jealous. I love lazy delivery food days. We were in Seattle for our anniversary so we took advantage and ordered Thai delivery, sadly our host didn't have TV service or any good movies so we just looked at stuff on Youtube. Hee.

I am extremememememely cranky today. Blah.

that was brilliant.

done deal.

so - Val - i have gone through this type scenario SO MANY TIMES over the last 3 months temping.

here is my thought. none of it makes sense ever - so don't try to make sense of it. i always thought that if i didn't sleep a full 3 hours it would make the temp HIGHER (which happens) - but sometimes its LOWER.

in fact. i probably hardly EVER get a full straight 3 hours sleep. Im one of those who notices the time changing every other hour throughout the whole night and into the morning.

i always have assumed that if you have been at least LAYING IN THE BED all night, how much could your temp be different than if you were in REM or not? I don't know the answer. Temps seem wildly upredictable. I quit trying to figure out their patterns.

Id take the temp you got at the time you typically record. 98.0

whatever you do - just be consistent.

ie: the last couple nights I have taken my temp about every 2-3 hours throughout the night (read: OBSESSED), up until my standard time of 6am. they vary SO MUCH. usually from hot at night then they cool off between 2-4am and then start building back up again. but there will always be a point (time) at which they stabilize.

did i help at all here? im just rambling....

friggin temps....

Hello Ladies of the house of Spelunk. Hope you are all having a fantastic Saturday.

I'm going body boarding later today, the surf is supposed to be pretty good.

Thanks to everyone for the Spelunk Train advice. I just attacked him after work and that seemed pretty effective.

s to everyone getting a visit from mean old nasty AF.

Zen- Have fun kayaking and don't forget to keep hope alive! Also were do I get one of those fishnet bodysuits?

Pbutter- Thanks for sharing your daughters story, I've never heard of Amniotic Band Syndrome. She is so beautiful and sounds so sweet, glad she is doing well.

2in09- Way to stay strong for the DD making cause, don't know if I could do it. Wishing you a DD soon for all your dedication:

Binkin- I have The Mythic Tarot and I really like it cause it uses the Greek Gods and Godesses, and I'm kind of a mythology freak.

Valeria Vi-98 and 97.98 are really close, I wouldn't worry about it. Your chart looks great!

Well FF gave me cross hairs on cd 20. No spelunky for the two days prior to this so doesn't look good. Also makes me think I shouldn't test on the 19th as this would only be 9 days later. Oh well, I'll do it anyway and expect a BFN. I can take it.
I have a question, which has sprung to mind before, but I never remember to ask. Do any of yinz ever feel... weird? about the idea of conceiving a baby in some freaky-ass spelunking session? I mean, as much FUN as I have, sometimes I wonder like... that would make a GREAT story to tell the grandkids, right? Only there's really no reason for them ever to know, so I don't know why I ever think about it at all.
MMM You're getting me all excited. My BF said last night, "don't get your hopes up." Yeah, buddy. Easier said than done. Although he is mr. pessimist just so he never has to be disappointed.

Binkin I don't feel weird about it at all. All of my spelunking sessions are pretty much down and dirty - pretty conservative about it, but I mean, we don't have lovey dovey emotional sex all that much. So I figure our kid will be born of pure pleasure.

RABITGRL The beach sounds nice. Your chart doesn't look bad, BTW. I figure my actual O date could be the day before or after FF says, so if it was the day before, you would have had sex 2 days before, and if it was the actual day or the day after, you had sex on CD20, too. Lots of people I talked to recently said they conceived the month they had sex ON their O day.

Carrot CONGRATS on the new position

Valeria I wouldn't worry about the temp, either. It's one degree, and it's so soon after O, your chart looks good.

Zen spotting does not equal AF. Either way, have fun kayaking!

So. AFM I had a nice day walking downtown and at the farmer's market with my BF and his mama. she's awesome. I tried out my concoction I've been thinking of to scent my homemade sugar scrubs - patchouli and vanilla. Smells delicious and BF likes it (although if I told him patchouli was in it I'm sure he would say he didn't...). And I had to come up with an excuse to go to the "natural" children's store where they have birthing classes and the like. Felt weird looking around in front of MIL - she doesn't know we're TTC. I was also grilling her at lunch because she had a baby with trisomy 18, and then I realized I shouldn't ask so many questions if I don't want her to know that we're trying!!

It was nice, anyway. And a good way to avoid peeing on more OPK's. I am so not going to make it till Wednesday to test. I am SO ANTSY! Argh.

You know, there is .03* between the two. That much isn't going to break the bank. Either way, you are fine.

(allSee, the thing is about temping is to SEE THE TREND. Pre-O, Women TREND lower than 97.7 and post-O they TREND higher than 97.7. What you are looking for is that you are trending upwards after O and downwards beforehand, with a jump on the day that you O. Some of the "could be pregnant" signs are: post-O dip at 5-11 days, and being tri-phasic... but like breast tenderness, they are only signs of what COULD be. The only purpose in continuing to temp after O is... to see if your temps remain high.

Man, I sound like someone's mom, but I'm still TTC #1.

Nah. It'll be the 'look' that you and the father give each other when the child asks where they came from. I've seen that look on other parent's faces. We tease my sister that her daughter is "Jamaca" baby. They went to hedonism II or something down there to check it out (nekkid resort) and I do think that's what happened... and yes, that kid is her father's daugher. Unless he has a twin.

I'm back. What would I do without you guys?
gbutt, zen, rabitgrl, thanks a bunch guys!

gosh, the weather here is nasty, yesterday it started raining around 2pm and it hadn't sopped yet. did i say raining? it's pouring. so hard. and so much water. and we came to gymnastics only to find out that her group did nto have a class today. talk about crazy. but they had another older group going at the same time, so they let her stay. it was sweet of them. she didn't want to leave. mommy is insane. we still have to go to a kid's birthday party at 6pm today. nto sure if I can manage that. with this weather, all I wanna do is sleeeeeeeeep. I had a cup of coffee in the morning. but the weather is so bad, it had no effect.
carrot_flowers, how is it where you are? we're just north of you (Chicago 'burb), so I'm wondering if it's pouring where you are as well.

i did think it was "strange" that the temps pretty much were the same and decided to keep 'em. now my chart IS looking good. but I'm 13 dpo and no symptoms. so I dunno. Zen, i totally get what you're saying about temps. i decided to record the slightly lower one (97.97). i always wondered if being in RAM makes that difference and somehow your body regulates itself differently there. but as this morning showed (and as you are saying), may be there is no magic to it after all.

binkin, i never thought about it that way. with dd it was a "if it happens, it happens" kind of situation, so I didn't keep track of anything. but even now, really, i don't remember what exactly was the spelunking on whatever cd (noty that it wasn't good, but how am I supposed to remember them all). and how do you know which spelunkin' session's swimmer got to catch that eggy. so just go there and have fun.

gosh, look at my temps. today is the first day I have it above 97.7 my temps seem to be very low. it's my first month charting for real like that, but they have stayed quite low all this time until just a couple of days ago when they really started creeping up. but yes - trend is the most important thing and that's what I am trying to go by. I'm just surprised to see the temp up so high today. i stopped believing that this month is "it' for me. dunno why. probably 'cause I have no symptoms of any kind one way or the other.

Hows this for really hangin' on a shred of hope...

I just looked at my chart again (#1,993), and thought...

hmmm. If lets say I didn't happen to ovulate until CD25 - and today were actually 9DPO, its POSSIBLE that the eensy wheensy bit of pink tinged poist-coital (now theres a sexy word!) blood I discovered, could be IMPLANTATION spotting???

I have seen no more of it as the day has gone on.

Not cramping really today. Boobs still slightly tender...

Temp is down - but oddly - after I went back to sleep at 6am irritated and generally 'ready to go to sleep without stressing anymore'...thinking i was surely out....i woke up with a good 3 hours sleep at 9am.

Temped for the hell of it (cukoo). it had gone from 97.8 at 6am, to 98.4. WHICH IRONICALLY, makes that stupid temp adjusting equation I just bashed - SPOT ON.

Now. The question is - were the low temp I saw at 6am, and indication of FLO coming - would the temp rise that much??

Wishing the last two months I'd recorded my 'day' temp (for ballpark purposes) - for reference now.

DOOD - listen to me. I am for REALZ off my rocker.

And apparently I don't have a life either - all blowin up MDC at 3pm on a FRIGGIN SATURDAY.

Zen, Im right there with you. obsessing over may chart like crazy, looking at it like a 1000 times a day. I'm just goinna keep my fingers crossed for you that may be this truly was implantation. if you Oed on cd25, then it's too early for Mrs Flo to make her appearance, isn't it? and really, your temps have stayed consistently higher after cd25. so ... I hope we're all right and this is it for you!!!!
